Likelyhood of a c-section?

My first child (a girl) was a cute cherub of 10lbs 11oz.
She was born emergency c-section after 3 days in labour.

I’m now 20wks into my second pregnancy and have found out this time we’re having a BOY!

I have my first consultant meeting this afternoon and was wondering if they were likely to push for a planned c-section this time round?

I ended up with an EMCS in my first pregnancy. At the consultant appointment, I found that they didn't really seem to lean either way. They simply presented me with some facts about the pros and cons of a VBAC and an ELCS, gave me a leaflet and I have an appointment at 36 weeks to let them know my final decision. I'm 99.9% sure I'll be having another section, so at my 36 week appointment, they'll book me in then for around 39 weeks. I get that this can be very area dependent though and have heard of some consultants seeming to favour one delivery method over the other.

I guess it depends on your area and the consultant you see. I had my first consultant appointment 4 week ago armed with info and geared up ready to fight tooth and nail to get my elcs. Bit of an anti climax. She gave me the stats on vbac success rates but also that a planned section obviously is controlled etc. So as I was obviously adamant in what I wanted that's fine and I have an appointment when I'm 36weeks to arrange a date etc. I really was expecting a lot more hoop jumping. I know I am lucky really

Same history as you, roughly, and I got my c section agreed at 12 weeks by being extremely pushy. The registrars seem to default to VBAC (even though my GP and midwife said they wouldn't). So I very much doubt they will try force you into a section unless there is a clear medical need. It depends on the reasons for your first one.

Chances are they'll push you towards a VBAC, possibly with early induction due to size.

Do your research, decide what you would prefer and discuss it with them.

Just had my appointment. Midwife took my BP and Doppler baby HB. Consultant said no reason I can’t have a natural birth, they prefer big babies over tiny ones. They gave me a leaflet about the pros and cons of both and they will see me in 36 weeks for me to decide on what I wanna do really.

I feel nervous, like a first time mum again, as I know what to expect from a CS and the recovery of one. No idea how to do it normally... so hard to decide what to do based on a nervous feeling.
