Chinese gender prediction accuracy

Hi all,

As far as I am aware, this is spookily accurate. I have searched a few old MN threads and they have backed this up.

I wonder how often (if at all!) it is wrong?

Anyone experienced it being incorrect?

Well it told me that this baby will be a girl.

If it is, she has an alarmingly large growth between her legs! 😂

Of course, nothing is set in stone until he’s born in December!

MagicalCreatures · 03/10/2018 20:49

Wrong for me too. Mine said girl and I’m having a boy.
As far as I’m aware though, when I researched it myself, I found that there were some sites that said it was one way and then other sites that completely reversed it. So either way, it’s always 50/50 so one of the sites is going to be right x

SoyDora · 03/10/2018 20:52

My two girls should have been boys. Just checked what it says for my boy due in December... it says girl Grin

SueSnell · 03/10/2018 21:00

Ok yep I thought that had to be some stories of it being wrong somewhere! Thank you ladies... I wonder if there's more of a grey area when conception happens at the very beginning or end of the month...?!

OP posts:
SoyDora · 03/10/2018 21:03

I don’t think there are any ‘grey areas’... it’s just an old wives tale like all old wives tales!

SueSnell · 03/10/2018 21:04

@SoyDora if you don't mind my asking, did you go for DC3 in the hope of getting a boy? If so, how did you prepare yourself for possible gender disappointment??

Of course all children are a blessing and you would love your baby regardless of gender (and once they're born you are totally unable to imagine them any other way), but was gender disappointment a possible thing for you??

Or anyone else?

OP posts:
SoyDora · 03/10/2018 21:06

No I didn’t. If I’d have had any form of gender preference then I wouldn’t have tried for another... why would you, when there’s a 50% chance you’d be disappointed? I knew there was no way I’d have been disappointed, I wanted another child, not a boy or a girl.

SueSnell · 03/10/2018 21:17

Yes that's the perfect way to approach it. Preference must be on wanting a baby regardless of gender. Thank you!

beccii161016 · 03/10/2018 21:39

It was correct for a lot of people I know but for me DD should be a boy! I suppose it has a 50/50 chance of being correct which is pretty high odds so it's just coincidence. I did have fun using it on others though!

GladAllOver · 03/10/2018 21:43

You can't predict gender. And you certainly can't predict sex which is what you probably meant.
Sorry but just at the moment it's best to be precise about this.

NewtScamandersNaughtyNiffler · 03/10/2018 21:48

Hmmm... according to the first image I found of a chart I should have 1 DD and 1 DS. I have 2 DSs.

But then another I found is based on 'lunar age' and 'chinese lunar month' which I presume don't match actual age and English months.

Off to investigate.

NewtScamandersNaughtyNiffler · 03/10/2018 21:53

Using Chinese lunar age and months, I should have 2 boys! Which is correct.

beccii161016 · 03/10/2018 22:01

@GladAllOver But it is called the Chinese Gender Chart. Correct or not that's what the chart/prediction method has been called for years so the OP is referring to it in its correct name.

hamburgers · 03/10/2018 22:07

Chinese predictor calendar was right for me both times!

Oogie · 03/10/2018 22:08

Just had a look, for Ds1 it predicted a boy, which he is. Now for what I consider the interesting bit....
My second pregnancy was conceived end of January/early February. Had I conceived in the January, it predicted a boy. Had I conceived in the February, it predicted a girl. I had boy/girl twins

SueSnell · 03/10/2018 22:29

@Oogie that is so interesting! I'm fascinated by it all

OP posts:
SueSnell · 03/10/2018 22:30

@NewtScamandersNaughtyNiffler forgive my ignorance- what is the difference for the Chinese lunar age and months? This might be the explanation for the difference seen on different sites, as a pp said

OP posts:
Oogie · 03/10/2018 22:31

I find it all fascinating as wellSmile

SueSnell · 03/10/2018 22:33

@beccii161016 thanks, yes I was just using the name it is widely known by...

@GladAllOver appreciate gender sensitivities, this is lighthearted though. I think he term 'gender' has taken on a slightly different meaning in recent years

OP posts:
NewtScamandersNaughtyNiffler · 03/10/2018 22:42

@SueSnell I have no idea. I used a site where I put my dob and the due date/dob for baby and it worked it out for me.

For ds1 it said I was 20 lunar years when I conceived. I was 19 years old.

Not sure what the Chinese lunar months are.

SueSnell · 03/10/2018 22:47

I'm going to check this out! See whether it gives a different answer...
