So, I've been putting off going to the DRs... (I have my own issues from my last pregnancy 11 years ago)
I finally went today to see someone, I told them my last period was 6th July and I discovered I was pregnant end of August. The GP felt my stomach and said "your womb is much higher, I would say you are 14-16 weeks at least" but I KNOW my last period was a period, it wasn't a light bleed or spotting and it came right on time. I'm so confused but also scared, because I then thought to ask her "if it's more than one would that make the womb higher" to which she said yes only if you have twins in the family.... and yes, we have twins in the family on my mums side. Safe to say I've not stopped crying and I honestly don't know what to do with myself, for me one baby is going to take getting used to but two? I'm not even happy I'm pregnant I don't think, I'm full of anxiety and horrible thoughts and it's eating me up inside. I have an urgent appointment with a midwife tomorrow for bloods etc and I just can't even hold it together without crying, I just don't think I'm meant to be a mum and I have no idea what I'm thinking.

Please if anyone had anything similar, I would like all details. I am so scared.....Sad

I hope you can get your NHS scan soon op. I don’t want to alarm you but be aware of false reassurance of people on here. Yes, clearly a scan dates more accurately but it is obvious to a trained professional (ie GP) when a uterus is larger than dates, especially if you are slim. The only real reason at this stage is a multiple pregnancy or earlier conception. Later on in 3rd trimester it is much more common for people to be “larger than dates” and have variability. Just commenting on a PP point, this absolutely is a GPs area! You don’t have to be an obstetrician to examine a womb!

@glintandglide he has a very good paid job (he is self employed) but even tho we have been together 5 years I don't like asking him for money for things, it's just a personal thing..... I also don't like my family members buying me presents etc I guess I'm just very proud and like to be independent.

Anyhow, I did call my local scan dept yesterday for an update on weather they had booked a date for me yet and they said they had not done my paperwork yet and to call back on Tuesday but the scan won't be next week.

However I only called them because I was worried I wouldn't be able to arrange care for my other child or get the time off work if it was short notice once the letter arrived! So I shall call them Tuesday and hopefully they have a date for me to work around! Fingers crossed...
