24 weeks pregnant and the tiredness has returned

Hi all - am 24+4 pregnant and have been doing really well since first trimester symptoms lifted at week 13-14. But in the last few days - my energy levels have dipped and I have gone back to feel really fatigued. Not quite as bad as the bone crushing tiredness of the 1st trimester - but has come out of the blue!
Anyone else experienced this? and any advice on anything i can do to combat it?

thanks
Dal

Hi I felt knackered for the whole of my pregnancy and just had to take it as easy as possible (which was difficult with a toddler). I think that as long as your iron level is ok you just have to rest as much as you can and accept that this is how pregnancy is and luckily it doesn't last too long. (although it feels like it at the time.) I can honestly say that from two weeks after the birth I felt much less tired than the whole of my pregnancy even though I was being woken up frequently for feeds.

Hi i'm 25-2days and i'm shattered too. So your not alone. Try eating lots me fruit and veg keep your energy up.

Thanks guys - my diet couldnt be any healthier! Think as you say, I just have to take it easy and rest when i can. Just wanted to know whether it was me as didnt expect tiredness to return until much later (i.e. 3rd trimester). Cannot really complain though as thus far the pregnancy hasnt been too bad!

hi Dal - as has been suggested, do get your iron levels checked out. This can be a main factor in excessive tiredness, and easily solved with supplements.

dal21 · 12/06/2007 19:14

Have a regular check up tomorrow - will definitely bring it up.

dal21, why don't you pop along and say hi to the due in Sept thread, we're a really friendly bunch and all at the same stage, so it's good to compare notes so to speak

I'm due 23rd Sept and have to admit I do have the odd week here and there where I feel as knackered as the first trimester!

Hope to see you over on the other thread.

x

dal21, i'm due 3 oct i definately 2nd (or 3rd) getting your iron checked out as i've been anamic throughout the pg and have been shattered. and its really not fair when we're meant to be blooming and having endless energy in the 2nd trimester is it!

PurpleLostPrincess · 12/06/2007 21:58

I had a serious dip in energy at about 23 weeks and I had low blood pressure - my midwife said that it's normal to have a dip at around that stage of pg and told me to go home and rest and don't get up too quickly!

I've been tired all the way through with this one though, I'm 25+3 and I haven't slept properly for months so I'm a bit of a walking zombie lol! At least I'll be well practiced for the night feeds!

Come join us on the Sept thread - you'll be most welcome!
