I'm 7 weeks pg and have had awful ms for the past 10 days. I feel absolutely horrible. I can hardly move and in bed at every opportunity - which is not often enough with a 2 year old on the loose! I don't remember feeling this bad last time. I am actually being sick too so am concerned about not getting good nutrition for the baby. Also going on holiday in 2 days and worried about spoiling it for family, although must say dh has been star.

I did a quick search on mn but all advice on how to cope is much appreciated - thanks.

You can get travel sickness bands for your wrists, work like acupressure. Worked for me!

Ritz crackers seem to be working for me at the moment. I keep boxes of them everywhere - by the bed, in desk at work, in my bag.

Strawberry, congrats on your pregnancy!! I have every sympathy for your morning sickness.....I was terribly sick for several weeks, but it really eased off at about 13 weeks. Not much to add, flat fizzy drinks helped me, and lots of dry biscuits. HOpe y0u're feeling better soon

I really sympathise! I had hyperemisis with both of mine. With my first, ds, I felt sick from about 2 weeks.I was vomiting up to 15 times a day, couldn't even keep water down.I lost over a stone and had to be hospitalised, on a drip and had anti-sickness injections daily for a week. As soon as I was back out of hospital the sickness startrd again but at least I wasn't so dehydrated. Stopped as if by magic at 12 weeks.
With dd it was pretty much the same, but I forced myself to drink, even though it didn't stay down for long.
I'm sorry to say didn't really find anything really worked for me. I tried the travel bands and was scared to take them off just incase they were doing some good.
Only plus is that you baby is thriving, all those excessive hormones that are making you sick are keeping your little babe well protected!
Hope you are feeling better soon.

Definitely try the sick bands (accupressure), I kept mine on 24 hours a day!

Also ginger capsules

Eat every 2 hours

Plenty of water

You could even try homeopathic remedies, try and find a shop that knows what they are talking about, as there are a few you could try.

It's not easy, but mine actually finished this time at 10 weeks and I'm having twins, (also 2 kids to look after!) - So there is hope for you yet!

boil the kettle, put hot water in cup with lemon slice and slice of ginger. leave overnight - sip slowly before you get up and then eat.

I only are cheese and pickle sanndwiches for 18 weeks - anything else had no chance.

Thanks everyone! I am feeling much better now. The travel bands did just enough to help me get some food down which in turn helped again. Also scan suggests that I am further on than I thought so am now 10 weeks! So I will soon be in 2nd trimester and hopefully feeling great. In fact remember feeling rather frisky when pg with DS..... DH had better watch out!

Hi Everyone, I'm 10 weeks pregnant with first and am really struggling with ms morning, noon and night. Struggling to keep even fluids down during the day, and am having a couple of snacks and then a meal in the evening (which i've parted company with several times now). I've tried ginger biscuits in bed, out of bed, as I go, as well as crackers, rich tea and toast. Is it definitely going to end soon??!!

Nimme · 10/01/2005 10:38

Yes!

With my first pg it lasted until 15 weeks or so - second time round only until 12 weeks. The best relief I found was to constantly nibble on something and never allowing my stomach to get too empty - the acid was horrific. Rich Tea biscuits, bananas, bread sticks, cucumber, carrots and more biscuits.

The travel bands really worked for me aswell. The only thing I could eat was oranges and rich tea biscuits. I tried the ginger biscuits but found them too strong so a lady that I worked with went out to a health food shop and bought me some ginger sweets which she said worked a treat for her but the smell put me off! It could be worth a try.
Hope you feel better soon!

I had morning sickness for the first 15 weeks and thought it would never end. I found out I was pregnant with my first 2 days before flying to Kefalonia for a really needed holiday. Morning sickness started the day we arrived and in 40 degree heat it was not nice. I spent the whole week laying by the pool or in bed, my poor husband was really supportive though ( good job he took alot of books).
Ginger was the key for me. Ginger tea and a good supply of ginger biscuits. Also ginger beer left to go flat before drinking it helped as did Coca Cola also flat. In fact my only craving was those fizzy cola bottle sweets you can buy and I went through a catering pack in about 2 weeks as the soar fizzy taste seemed to calm my stomach

Hi. Have been v sick all through pregnancy and what worked for me was lemonade and a croissant in the morning - have found if I manage to keep this down do not feel as bad the rest of the day - bizarre but works!! Also found ginger and usual remedies made me worse.
Avoiding butter and any mayo on food also helped. Lived on dry cheese sandwiches until week 20.
Only good thing about it has been losing a lot of weight - best diet in the world!!!

chocolatequeen · 08/04/2005 12:36

Not wanting to make you all any sicker, but haven't had any ms yet - only threw up once with ds. However, am only about 7 weeks - does that mean there is still a chance that i can get ms at some point in the next few weeks, or is it the case that once you get past a certain point, you just won't get it at all? Just want to know what to expect!! Really feeling for all you guys - hope all the remedies help and you all start feeling better soon.

jamhead · 08/04/2005 19:09

Strawberry I hope you're feeling better. Really sympathise I am 9 wks pg with all day ms and DD is 14months.

That's what I find so difficult - it's a whole new ball game with a totally unreasonable little one to chase about after, isn't it? Good useful advice re ms.

Anyone have ideas about how to make it easier having a toddler and being pg?!
