I'm trying to get prepared and would like to buy a baby sling to give me some hands free time.
Can anyone recommend a nice one? I like the look of the stretchy fabric ones in grey to go with most things..

Google the sheffield sling library. Loads of really helpful stuff on there. I had a close caboo which is a soft newborn wrap and an ergobaby with infant insert. That I used from about 4 weeks.

Close caboo
Lovely and soft.
Can you Google 'sling library' in your area if you haven't already?

It would be really good if you can get along to one and try a few slings out to see what suits you

I had a grey moby stretchy wrap. Really comfortable and DD slept really well in it. Only used it until she was about 4 months old, then moved on to a baby hawk. If you have a sling library locally, you can try before you buy, or just borrow one if you won’t be using it for long.

You could do with trying a couple. Some sling library’s will do postal rentals I think, or find a library that’s close to you. I found the staff at my local one to be knowledgeable and helpful. I bought a close Caboo before my baby was born and couldn’t get on with it. Used a Hana wrap from my sister to start, then tried a Beco Gemini and now use a baby Integra.

I've got a grey 'cuddle bug' off amazon. It's a stretchy wrap that I've used since DS was about 2 weeks old and still use now at 6months

It's such a personal thing, I thought I'd love a stretchy wrap, but didn't get on with it at all. It was such a faff, and I hated having yards of fabric swathed around me when I was post-partum and already felt like a whale!

I personally got on much better with a soft structured carrier - I had a Boba 4g and loved it. Dh didn't like it as much though. Later I tried a ring sling and was surprised to like it very much, even though ds was a bit big for it by then.

Bottom line, wait and try a few when your baby arrives. There are so many out there, there is bound to be one that you like.

I had the close caboo for all three of mine and will be coming out for the fourth. Easy to put on, soft and babies always seem very content in it. It was also great for tiny babies which mine were.

Go to a sling library and try them out before possibly wasting money on buying one that us unsuitable.

I have inherited 4 slings as they were barely used.

At the moment due to my baby's small size I can only use one of them however she doesn't like her head being in it the newborn way so I have to support it even though she is otherwise happy in the sling.

Stretchy wrap - we have the hana one from amazon perfect for naps and around the house. I bought mine a few weeks in and it really helps when they’re being clingy and need to feel close to you.

Ergo baby 360 for out and about. You need the infant insert if using ASAP. I love mine so much, I rarely use the (far more expensive) pram.
