Midwife appointments

This is my first baby. I had my midwife appointment at 28 weeks with the community midwife and was told that she wouldn't see me now until my son born as now under consultant care.

I had my anti d appointment the following day at the consultant clinic and I asked when I would next see a midwife and they seemed surprised that they had to see me.

I have a growth scan booked in for 2 weeks time but that's it nothing else. When I questioned the nurse she left the wrong and came back and said we will sort it at your next appointment.

I know looking at NHS I should have an appointment at 31, 34 then every two weeks after but as of yet nothing booked in.

My growth scan is at 30 weeks and they didn't seem sure why I was getting that.

It's start to really stress and upset me that I just being robbed off.

Ring your gp and make an appointment with midwife for 31 weeks. You’re correct with the schedule of care and should still be seen regardless of consultant appointments in between.

Sounds like some serious miscommunication between your community midwives and your consultant. Definitely push this point with both parties.

My GP tells me to call the community midwife who then tell me to call the consultant and I just go round on circles.

The community midwife from what I can understand has followed the correct pathway as due to some family history it puts me under high risk but don't think the consultant agrees.

I did see the consultant at 16 weeks and was met with so why are you here to which I said I was attending the appointments I been given and she booked the growth scan appointment so I don't understand why nobody seems to want yo be responsible for my care.

In my area you still see your midwife as well as consultant

That doesn’t sound right. You are correct with appointments you’ve listed and when a woman is under consultant care they are usually shared between the consultant team and the community team. Depending on the reason you are under consultant care determines how the checks are shared.

I was consultant led for 3 of my children and still had to attend midwife appointments as well. Only thing that was different was my last appointment with the midwife was scheduled earlier as I was booked for elc.

I have no clue what should happen with it being my first. Thank you for replying i going to try phoning again Monday and say I need them to sort it out.
