Hi, we've decided TTC and I took HPT on Tuesday morning, 3 days before AF due and it was a very faint line, just visible so thought I would leave it till after due before trying again if I was late. Today is AF day and I had a little light spotting when wiped this afternoon then nothing since and now there is a little more. Has anyone had this before that it's normal and I could still be PG or W maybe this is AF so it's a BFN for now? Not sure whether to try a test again if this is AF
Thanks

What brand of test? Some are more reliable than others (Sainsbury's and clear blue non-digital are shit).

Steffas17 · 27/09/2018 18:48

It's a CB early test as wasn't sure what to get as this is first time TTC

I had a small amount of spotting on the day AF was due and got a bfp the next day. Ideally try a frer. In a couple of days your hormones will be a lot stronger if it was a positive though. Good luck!

Steffas17 · 27/09/2018 20:59

Thanks, it's only really light and if it was AF then I would have thought it would have been heavier by now so will keep up the positives for now but as we've only just decided TTC we weren't getting our hopes up yet either so we don't get disappointed if it didn't happen

Looks like it is AF so on to next time.
It was a very very faint line so probably my eyes thinking and wishing it was there that made me see it but not to worry this time

My advice would be to not test until your AF is late. Testing early can just be confusing.

Steffas17 · 28/09/2018 10:02

I shall remember that advice for next time, think I was a little eager this time Smile

@Steffas17 i was the same, and I spent loads of money on tests the first time!! Second time I tested 4 days late and it was negative. Wasnt until I had bad shooting pains and googled implantation cramps that i decided to test again and was positive.

Try and buy the strips on Amazon, they are like £2 for 20 strips. They wont pick up that your pregnant before your period though.

I think testing before your period is late will send most crazy.

Good luck xxx

Steffas17 · 28/09/2018 10:26

@Italianshark thanks I may do that and I'll definitely wait next time till being late

Tip for next time-consuming don't use clear blue early detection. They almost always have a very faint line. Either use a digital once your period is late or a first response early result- available in boots and online.

Steffas17 · 28/09/2018 12:19

@overagain thanks, will definitely take that advice on board. I'll also be patient next time around Smile

Hi everyone. Just really need some advice off somebody. I am 16 weeks pregnant with my third child. I work in retail and have recently been told by doctors I have thrombophlebitis. My working hours are now no good for me as I cannot stand for long periods of time. I had a meeting with my manager about shifting my hours about so that it suited me better as some of the shifts a do are 10 hours long. The only solution they said they can come up with is that I reduce my hours. But now this means I will not be earning enough a week to qualify for maternity pay. Anyone know what I should do?

Thanks! Smile

LatteLover12 · 30/09/2018 20:00

Are you in a union @LJMc?

They can’t force you to reduce your hours. They have to make reasonable adjustments for you and your pregnant status is protected by law so they cannot discriminate against you.

Tell them you are not prepared to lose pay/cut hours. There must be some light duties you can transfer to?

Either that or ask the GP to sign you off.

LJMc · 30/09/2018 20:04

Thanks for replying! No I don't work in a Union. I do a 10 hour hour shift every Saturday, so I just wanted that made shorter, an the rest of the hours spread out into the other 3 days I work. They said no this was not possible, as it is not a real contact within the company. But I thought the whole point was for them to change my hours to suit me. I have worked for this company for 11 years and just feel like I've been treated unfairly. They have shortened my Saturday, however refused to let me work the rest of the hours on a different day.

If you’re not in a union then your best bet would be to speak to citizens advice.

Is there a chance your GP would sign you off?

LittleDoveLove · 01/10/2018 06:06

Definitely speak to citizens advice, sounds like they know they won't have to pay you maternity leave, also with the doctors note I know my contract says I need to be in a certain number of days before my due date or they classify it as start of my maternity. I want to make the most of it after the baby is born than before.
