Has anyone had endometriosis and had a c section?

I have suspected endo, nothing has been confirmed as I fell pregnant first before investigation.

I’m just wondering if one, the endo and adhesions can be seen during the c section?

And two, whether the endo made any difference to the op? Caused any problems etc.

I have witnessed an elective c section where I was midwife for a woman with endometriosis. I remember the consultant was very taken aback by the amount of adhesions, for a moment she (the consultant) thought she had got her patients mixed up and that this woman had had previous c sections (1 st baby). I think from the woman's perspective it was all fine but it was a difficult operation for the surgeon and there were concerns while we were in theatre that there would be complications involving the bowel and bladder. There weren't. The consultant said afterwards 'I never want to have to operate in that uterus again '.

I have seen the same consultant operate on many occasions without turning a hair including other women with endometriosis, so I presume this was a particularly impressive example!

@Duskybluebell That sounds scary, I hope it doesn’t happen to me like that!
Did the operation take a lot longer than usual? And did the woman have to be put under GA or did she stay under a spinal?

Spinal was fine, surgery definitely took longer than usual but woman was unaware, she had a cuddle with baby, we took photos and guessed the weight, then weighed etc. Consultant had a chat afterwards explaining but it was all fine. I think it was the surprise that really threw the consultant - she was expecting a very simple procedure. I wouldn't worry too much, I've cared for plenty of women with endometriosis and that was the only time it was a problem

@Duskybluebell Thank you for that, makes me feel better.
Once baby is out, hopefully I’ll be so focused on him I won’t notice what else is going on or for how long.
