Hi all,

I have my 3 month scan later today and am currently under consultant care.
I've been told to give at least 4 hours for the entire appointment.

I wondered, could someone give me an idea of what to expect please?

I have similar length appointments. It would depend on why you're under consultant care though. For me I see specialist antenatal cardiologists so every visit involves an ECG, heart scan, baby scan, cardiologist appointment and obstetrician appointment. The letter says allow at least 4 hours but in reality I'm usually in and out within about 2-2 1/2 hours

I too was under consultant care. On arrival I waited for my scan and someone took my blood pressure, weight etc. Then someone else talked to me re testing for syndromes and took my blood. I then waited again for the actual scan and they were lovely, explaining and showing me everything. I then waited again to see the Dr and just discussed things and a plan going forward. It wasnt the actual appointments that took any time it was just waiting inbetween and they were quite busy. It wasnt 4 hours though, more like a couple. Good luck xx

Turn up, sit and wait for scan (probably won’t be on time). Have scan (20-30 minutes), go through to antenatal clinic. Do a urine sample. Have that and blood pressure tested. Sit and wait until you are called to see midwife/consultant. Spend about 10 minutes going over your notes and then go home.

SOMEHOW this lasts ages. 4 hours is about right, but a lot of it is just sitting around!

I was in about 3 hours. Was on time for the scan and in and out within around 30 minutes. Waiting for the consultant took the longest, probably waited around an hour to see her and then the appointment lasted about 15 minutes. Then I had a bit of a wait to have my bloods done. Scan appt was 9.40am and I was out by about 12.30.
