How long between C Sections?

I had my DS via emergency CS albeit under very calm circumstances and afterwards when the surgeon was giving me scar scare advice etc he mentioned that I should get pregnant again for about 2 years.

Has anyone else been told this length of time? Do you think it's entirely dependant on the circumstances of the CS and person?

I've never been told a specific time frame I've had 3 sections 2012 (emergency) 2014 (elective) 2016 (emergency baby born at 28 weeks) I'm now having a planned c section with number 4 in Nov 2018. This will be my last as I'm at risk of uterine rupture and the scar tissue is very bad, i didn't no this untill i feel pregnant.

4 heavy babies born in Nov 08, Jan 11, Mar 14 and Aug 15. All by section.

I was told I should wait one year before betting pregnant again. 2 years seems long - was that definitely 2 years before getting pregnant again or 2 years before delivering again?

But yes I guess it depends on your individual circumstances, perhaps it’s worth asking for your hospital notes so you can clarify the issue?

It depends on the individual circumstances and how thin the scar area from previous C sections is - however if that was your first C section then 2 years seems very conservative. The usual advice is a year (or never, if the scar area is weak and there’s a high risk of rupture but that’s usually only after 3 or 4 sections).

I wasn't given any advice after my first emcs but they made a right mess of the scar. I had an elcs 16 months later and they tidied it up for me. Again, wasn't given any advice about waiting to get pregnant again (not that I'm planning to!). Seems to differ on where you are and individual circumstances. I guess I would be classed as an older mum so maybe I wouldn't have the luxury of time anyway.

Unless there were complications with your section then the surgeon is giving you outdated advice. I was advised I was ok to start trying for another dc immediately and that the whole wait for a year thing was outdated.

As a rule of thumb it takes 2 years for your body to replace its vitamin and mineral stores after pregnancy.

MsHopey · 26/09/2018 18:36

I was told a year and have read it in several places.
It's not the end of the world if you get pregnant sooner I just think they have to keep a closer eye on you.
DS is 14mo and I'm 8 weeks pregnant, LMP was 3 days before his 1st birthday!
We definitely only want 2 children though and I will hopefully be having another c section.
I'm pretty sure I wouldn't have been ready for another baby any sooner though!
