Hi all,

When and how did you book NHS antenatal classes?

I have looked into NCT classes and they are £300 which we don't really have spare at the moment

Thanks
S❤️

Your midwife can tell you, or call the local hospital's antenatal team. FWIW mine were WAAAAAAY better than NCT (we did both), but the large group size (40+) meant that no one really made friends etc. I suppose if someone had been brave enough to suggest a WhatsApp or email group it would have gained traction, but no one did.

I have done NCT but also booked onto a 1 day NHS course at my midwife appointment at about 24 weeks.

Just via my midwife at one of my routine appointments, can't remember when but definitely after 20something weeks.

i was given the number to call and book it. Spaces go pretty quickly so call asap.
It was 1 class and it was enough. NCT is, in my opinion, an expensive way to try and make friends (and thats not guaranteed).

If your local authority also offer a breastfeeding class and you plan on bf, book into that too. I found that very helpful.

i think from recollection the number was in my Bounty pack from the drs.

Check the website if your NHS trust.

Just google your town and antenatal classes.

NCT classes are shite anyway.

Mention it to the midwife if they don't.
Mine did. I said no as I knew I wouldn't be going as didn't need to.

Ask the midwife. My trust didn’t do any so we did NCT and I really enjoyed it. Wasn’t £300 though, the ‘essentials’ course was around £170
I think, which was five 2 hour long sessions and we really enjoyed it and found it useful.
