Maternity Grant

Sorry if this is in the wrong place. Am I right in believing that you can apply for the Sure Start Maternity Grant if my DP and I are expecting our first child, even though we both work? I'm part time and he's full time. Thanks!

Eligibility is here:

You need to be receiving benefits to apply for the grant. I had to wait till after my son was born and I was getting child tax credits/universal credit and then I could apply, you have 3 months after baby is born to apply for the grant

Me and DH were both working and then I was on SMP and I wasn't eligible. And we're both on minimum wage jobs and I was only part time.
It sounds unlikely but you never know.

My partner and I received it - our first child, both full time employment and neither of us on benefits. Definitely worth applying x

Thanks all for the responses! We're struggling a bit financially atm and would like to get as much behind us before DC is here. If I apply and am rejected, does that mean I can reapply after he is born? I find it all so confusing Confused

Yeah you should be able to reapply after as long as you meet the criteria you should get it, i was working full time before DS was born so I had to wait till after to apply and because I was then getting universal credit I was able to get it.
