Prams for Mini Cooper or similar small cars.. help!

Hi Everyone :)

Hoping someone can help!

I'm currently looking for prams for baby due in February and I'm wondering which one anyone that has a Mini or car with similar sized boot has bought or using/used?

Ideally I would like a travel system however know I need to be realistic as the boot is small! I'm worried I will have to get a stroller type Pram which are the only ones I have found so far that fold up small enough, I don't see many mums with newborns using these?!

Any help hugely appreciated. Thank you ! Smile

I've got a seat ibiza so a smallish boot and was looking at a Mamas and Papas Armadillo flip XT, Joie Chrome DLX and a Bugaboo Bee as these all fold down fairly small and are more. I've gone for a Bugaboo Chameleon as it only just fits and I love it but you have to take the seat/carry cot off to be able to fold it down.

Babyzen yoyo is brilliant if you're mainly on pavements.
But bugaboo bee is also good. Depends on budget!

It's tempting to pop your squishy newborn in the pram equivalent of a tank, but honestly a pain in the bottom for transporting around.

Joie chrome folds down pretty small and is light and easy to use. The whole thing fits in the boot of a panda if the carry cot is collapsed (but it's a bugger to pop up again). It's also compatible with car seats

I had a Fiat 500 with my first DD and went for an Armadillo Flip XT. We did have to take a wheel off to fit it in the boot, and carrycot went in the backseat/back footwell, but otherwise it's been a great pram.

What Naughtysausage said- the YoYo and the Bee are both fab and you can put the car seat on them too.

Not a travel system but the Grace Evo Mini fits into my stupidly small boot (Suzuki Alto) and has a really easy fold system.

I had a BabyJogger City Mini with my first and it fitted into the boot of my Toyota Yaris - didn't need to take wheels off or anything like that.

I have a little ford ka and we've bought the Oyster 2 travel system - folds down well and you can even take the wheels off! Smile

We’ve bought the cosatto wow travel system.

Base folds down to fit in the boot. I think the carrycot will fit on top of it but I’m not 100% certain. It will fit on the backseat though next to the car seat :)

paddythecat · 23/09/2018 17:11

I have a Mini 5-door hatch and I'm also due in February

We bought the Bugaboo Fox as the girl in Mamas and Papas somehow fitted it into the boot, this afternoon we have tried with no luck to get it in and the carrycot will have to travel in the football

The frame (with wheels still on) and pushchair part of the pram fit comfortably in the boot which is a plus!

I had a similar problem with my Audi A1.
The workers in our local mothercare were amazing.
Got an Oyster 2max pram that fits perfectly in my tiny boot folded up still with room for the carry cot. We had to go for a Joie i-Level i-Size car seat (the angle of my back seats meant baby wouldn't be laying flat without this seat) and just got some adaptors for like £15 so the car seat will fit onto the Oyster chassis.
All the Silver Cross prams were way too big for the boot, I was initially gutted but now absolutely delighted with the Oyster!

Fishywishyhead · 23/09/2018 18:25

A bugaboo bee fits your criteria perfectly and is an amazing buggy, mine is going strong after 7 years. You can get second hand ones for a few hundred quid.

Fishywishyhead · 23/09/2018 18:26

Oh and I used my bee from newborn with the cocoon, no issues!

coffeekittens · 23/09/2018 18:47

Take a look at the new baby style oyster 3 as that folds down with the seat unit on (not carry cot)

surreygirl1987 · 23/09/2018 18:49

I had my heart set on an icandy peach all terrain but my boot of my Hyundai i10 is TINY... I was pleasantly surprised that I can get it in!. Not the bassinet - that has to go in the main car (I put that in the passenger seat or strap it onto one of the back seats) but the main frane/wheels section fold up nice and small, despite it being a large and quite heavy contraption. If you park your car near the entrance to a pram shop often shop assistants are willing to help you try and see which ones you like actually fit. I ended up getting mine on eBay for £156 - bargain! Babyzen yoyo is great and the newborn nest is easy to use and fab. If you need to be on rougher ground then the city mini gt still folds quite small (and easily). For both of these you could then get car seat adaptors for the early days.

Xiaoxiong · 23/09/2018 18:58

Like anti above, we had a baby jogger city mini and it fit in the boot of our Ford Ka. No need to take the wheels off and I could open the boot, take the pushchair out and unfold it all with one hand. The car seat adaptors were great and turned it into a travel system and you don't have to take the wheels off. (We wanted a Maclaren but it was too long for the Ka boot.)

My brother and SIL have a babyzen yoyo and it seems good but we went for a walk today and because it has such tiny wheels it really struggled on anything other than smooth pavement. Cobbles, brick and gravel caused them issues whereas my baby jogger went smoothly over all of it and works on grass too.

Littlebelina · 23/09/2018 19:02

We've gone for a city mini as well

NoNameIdeas · 23/09/2018 20:57

What age is it and 3 or 5 door? I had a 5 door and could fit an uppababy vista in the boot without any problems...was actually easier to fit in than the uppababy Cruz, which is the smaller system. We went to John Lewis and took some out to the car park with a member of staff from the baby department to see what worked, would definitely recommend! Good luck x
