Maternity Tights

Ladies, I can't seem to find decent maternity tights. I bought some "natural tan" ones from Amazon for £9 and they were a ridiculous colour and were very uncomfortable. I need a black pair for a couple of weeks time. I'm a size 18 and I will be 26 weeks pregnant if that helps with recommendations. Thank you.

Matalan

I buy mine from M&S - I'm an 18/20 too they're lovely quality

More2Fly · 19/09/2018 18:02

I tried lots of different ones throughout pregnancy and found M&S by far the best! Had to buy them from their online store as they didn't seem to stock in shops.
They seem to be most true to size and thru fit and hold well.

Ones to avoid-

  • Mothercare: oversized and loose on waist. Walking to work one day and they ended up around my knees! Shock
  • Primark: terrible sizing. I'm a size 10 (normally and in maternity) and I think even size 14/16 were way to tight and cut off circulation

Avoid ASOS natural colour as 1) they laddered after one wear and 2) they only work if you are naturally a sort of orangey poo colour. They are comfy though so if they do black ones I might consider them.

The heist high waist tights work very well for early 2nd trimester if you get them a size up, although I’m very short (5’2”) so might cover more of my bump! Prob not helpful at 26 weeks though op.

arapunzel · 19/09/2018 19:04

M&S. Really good quality and very comfortable, especially over bump. I’m a similar size too.

LadyLaSnack · 19/09/2018 19:06

H+Ms are pretty good

spugzbunny · 19/09/2018 19:08

Boots ones are great!

My M&S didn't stock them when I was pregnant last year!

JLG19 · 19/09/2018 19:09

I can't remember if the good ones I got were from Asos or H&M... Helpful, I know Grin

Stephisaur · 19/09/2018 19:14

I like the Seraphine ones. They’re very comfy and don’t ladder unless you stick your nails through them because you’re in a hurry trying to pull them up at the motorway service toilets

MonkeyBrainsInPickle · 19/09/2018 19:23

H&M

I just bought some from JoJo Maman Bebe, 2 pairs for £15, as I needed them to go with a dress for a funeral. I went for Medium and they fit perfectly - am currently wearing 14/16 maternity clothes and 28 weeks pregnant so would recommend the large. Had black, navy and nude to choose from.

emwithme · 19/09/2018 19:56

Asda cooling tights (nude) are a great, thin tight. £3 a pair, only online.

Boots do a 60 denier black pair that are so soft and comfortable. Not sure how much they cost because I got mine for £1 on the reduced shelf!

(Tall/stocky size 16 pre-pregnancy, now 29 weeks)

Thanks very much for all your replies. I'll try M & S first I think and see how I go. Going into Oxford for our wedding anniversary and I don't want to slop about in my leggings or be pulling my maternity jeans up every 5 mins. I've got a pretty polka dot dress to wear with flat boots. I'll just pray it's not a hot day!

Asda, they have 40, 60, 80 and 100 and they're great. I've been wearing them to work and I'm 39 weeks pregnant. £3.

powkin · 21/09/2018 17:11

Has everyone from here been buying all the stock! They are sold out of everything but small and there’s only 40 and 80!

HollyGoLoudly1 · 21/09/2018 17:26

Love the H+M maternity tights - really thick, reasonable price and stay up well.

hoppyfarmer · 21/09/2018 18:18

Haven't bought mine yet so no guilty Smile
