Combined Screening Tests

Hi everyone

So it turns out that pregnancy has brought out the insane worrier in me. I have never worried like this before and every time one worry is sorted I just find another one.

Current worry is the results of our combined screening test. We had our first scan on Monday which was amazing. I am 13+1 and aged 31. From what I can tell my age is not a risk factor for the 3 syndromes being screened for, but does anyone know what else they use to decide if you are high or low risk?

Thanks so much

Xx

Age, level of HCG in your blood, and measurements of your babies nuchal fold (it's supposed to be within certain sizes but it's off it could be because of the issues you mention).
I would think the midwife and/or sonographer would mention it to you tbh!
Or if your as big a worrier as me you'd have googled the shit out of it 😂

@MsHopey thank you! Trying so hard to avoid google because who knows what you'll find! From what I can tell the NT was in the average range (2mm), so I guess it'll be down to the blood tests. Agony waiting! But I suppose it's only a matter of time before I get the next worry once I know about this.

Is this motherhood?! Constant worrying for the rest of my life?! I work in a special school and with pre-school children with significant needs so I guess I just don't really know much about typically developing children and assume everyone will have something unique. Love the kids I work with and DS would be no problem but I couldn't bear it if the baby has something that means it won't live xxx

Pretty much motherhood 😂
I think it is worse when pregnant or when they're poorly.
Most the time you do what you thinks right, what else can you do?
But pregnancy and when they're poorly, you can't really do anything. Pregnancy, you eat healthy, you take your vitamins, but your body is doing the hard work and if something goes wrong it's not your fault, but basically you can control it.
Same with when they're poorly, you can cuddle them, but there's not a lot you can do while they fight the infection or whatever it is they have. Again, completely out of your control.

*can't control it!
I should proof read.
