Hi all

I found out on Friday that we are expecting (over the moon as we have been trying for 19 months!)
We go on holiday tomorrow, which left very little time for a doctors appointment - am I ok to leave the booking appointment till I get back (1st October) or should I be fighting my way into the doctors today?

Thanks in advance!

You don't need to see a doctor, just your midwife at 8 weeks. If you ring your GP surgery they should provide you with a telephone number to ring and book a midwife appointment.

Congratulations! X

Depends on how it works in your area for how your booking appointment works. Google ‘NHS [yourarea] maternity” and that should tell you whether you need to go via GP or whether you can contact midwife or central booking services directly.

At any rate you’ll be fine to go on holiday. Usually booking appointments happen around 8-12 weeks anyway.

As long as you get in to see midwife/doctor (depending on your area) in time for them to refer you for dating scan (11-14 weeks), you'll be fine.

Thank you all for replying! Fingers crossed my nausea doesn't get worse in the air! 😂😂
