35+4 weeks, blood when wiping

I've just been for a wee and when wiping I noticed pinky tinge on the tissue. It wasn't thick or mucusy. Just wondered if anyone has experienced this or if I should be worrying? Baby is active and I have no pain etc

Might be worth a call if you are at all concerned

I would recommend calling the assessment unit to see what they say, as (not meaning to worry you) at this point you should not be bleeding really, and it can indicate a problem. It may be absolutely nothing (especially if you've had sex in the last 24 hours that can cause a bit of bleeding) but if the blood is not accompanied by any other labour signs then they'll want to check you out.

Have you had any more bleeding? I'd recommend wearing a pad for a few hours if so, as the assessment unit will want an idea of how much blood there is.

You posted this earlier today, what has happened since then OP??

Call your midwife immediately

SwordToFlamethrower · 16/09/2018 21:29

Could be the mucus plug. Which is a sign that Labour is on the way. It could be another week before it starts

CaseFace30 · 16/09/2018 21:30

I would have this after sex and the midwife said it was nothing to worry about as it was only when wiping.

I had it when I was in labour but it was a lot heavier and I felt like it wasn't right.

It's always worth calling triage, better to be safe than sorry!

ER1992 · 16/09/2018 21:36

Haven't had anymore was just the once but haven't had sex either so that isn't the cause. It was only very light so decided to just keep an eye and see if I have anymore before calling

Could be your plug but at 35+4 I would call as you are still pre-term.

I'm sure it's fine but no harm in getting checked out

ER1992 · 16/09/2018 21:42

Would it not have been thick and gloopy like if it was the plug?

Sounds like plug, it can go early but it's warrants checking out.

Plug can reform so you might get more before it's time. Having said that I had my dd at 37 weeks after very little warning. So do get things checked.

If in doubt, check it out.

Could be your waters leaking, this happened to me at 33.3 weeks at 05:00am and had my premature boy at 18:06 that night x

loveskaka · 16/09/2018 22:01

Waters are a very pale, salmony pink. X

I had the exact same thing at 35 on the dot. Called my midwife who told me to come into the hospital to get checked. By the time i got there the bleed had stopped. They still wanted to check and monitored me, they found I had an irritated uterus so kept me in for a while and gave me another scan. Everything was fine but my midwife said if it happens again definitely call so best to get checked.

loveskaka · 18/09/2018 13:29

Are u ok? X

ER1992 · 18/09/2018 13:48

Hello yes sorry I should have written to let you know what's been happening since... So I phoned midwife who didn't seem concerned as it only happened very lightly the one time. She said that it could have been babys head getting engaged causing irritation to the cervix but if it happened again to get in touch and she would get me seen. I already have a routine growth scan booked for Friday so I'll mention again there but I haven't had any more bleeding or anything else to be worried about
