Can I change my section date?

Does anyone know if we've been given a date (received in the post today) for our csection, can I change it for a different date (of course if it's available)? Or is it the date that's given, that's it...

Any experience with UCLH would be great x

I don't think they can change it.
Most are picked for 7 days before baby's due date, or close enough as I don't think they schedule c sections for the weekend.
I know there were 4 or us getting c sections on the same day when I had mine, and surgeons needed to also be prepared for emergency c sections.
They choose the date that works for their team and what best for baby (too early and baby isn't ready, too late and you might go into natural labour and it turns into a rushed c section).
I asked to move mine and there was no discussion. Just a simple no.
If you don't mind me asking, what reason do you want to change yours? It might affect the outcome of asking.

They let me delay mine by 2 days.

Thank you for your replies

Mshopey my reason to wanting to change the date is arranging someone to look after my 3yr old. Someone I know he will be happy staying with (my mum or Aunt) my aunt is unfortunately away that weekend & my mum has asked Work for shift change and they have refused. Dh is going to be with me at the hospital. Don't know what to do now Confused will give them a call tomorrow and speak to them, I come under a high risk team too x

It's unlikely but always worth asking.

I used to work in a maternity units. Elective CSs were carried out on 3 mornings a week. There were rarely any spare slots on another elective day to swap to, as they have to keep theatres free for emergencies too, or for people from another elective list that got put back due to emergencies coming in on their original day.

If you need a certain Dr / paediatric team for any reason then there's even less chance as they'll probably be booked to do something else on other days (clinic / other surgery / day working privately etc.). Obviously if you went into labour early all of that could be dropped, but they wouldn't do it to reschedule an elective list.
