11 weeks pregnant been for scan got another next week as baby wouldn't lie still for accurate measurement. Husband takes my hospital letter into work to get the time off, gets an inquisition then has to send it to about 5 managers to get the time off! I'm the one having the baby and I don't appreciate my medical letters flying around! On top of this we are high risk due to previous medical history and he has to keep explaining it and it is really starting to annoy me.

I believe (though someone may correct me) that fathers are only entitled to unpaid leave for 2 appointments. It might be that to get more off he needs it authorising further up.

I understand why you're irritated but at the same time workplaces need to make sure that an employee is being genuine asking for time off.

Yeh I think above poster is right... my husband took times off for two appointments actually and that was only an hour each time. The way we saw it, it was I that had to miss work for the appointments - although it would be nice, he didn't need to be there! He did come to the 12 week scan and 20 week scan but nothing else - didn't feel like he needed to come to growth scans it midwife appointments etc. That said, if I knew there was a big problem or if something was wrong I'd definitely hope work would let him have some extra time off... but I wouldn't be surprised if paperwork was needed (for him or me actually!)

Depends on their work policy - he could just take holiday if it's not in the policy
