Can't go on much longer I think. Due today and everything aches, can't sit comfortably anywhere, too knackered to go out and buy all the little bits I still need, but bored to tears here!

Going to go and stick my bump in the fridge

Anyone else?

@ you ladies having babies.

hairycaterpillar · 09/06/2007 20:19

Oh really feel for all you hot pregnant folk...I remember with DS1 (pregnant over summer 2003) we bought a new car and I was so pleased cause it had Air Conditionng so I used to just sit in it for ages reading and slurping ice cold drinks.

MrsFish · 09/06/2007 21:07

tribpot - I was exactly the same, had ds on 9th June 2005, also in a hospital with no air con and it was boiling. Those few weeks after he was born was also a nightmare, we actually went out and bought a fan and two aircon units to try and keep the heat down, the only drawback being the units were really noisy. Am 24 weeks pregnant atm and not doing too badly yet, but then again there is a lot of summer left to bed had

lisad123 · 09/06/2007 21:12

Mrsfish I think we must be due very close together
With DD she was a winter baby and I remember 2 days after she was born it was snowing and looking out of window at hospital and showing her the snow
Im off on holiday on monday so will be enjoying the warm british weather

I've had my pjs on all day, and I've been to Sainsburys, Homebase and B&Q . Also managed to see someone I know at each place

lomondgal · 09/06/2007 21:20

I feel like an oil slick, going to sit in a cold bath!

MrsFish · 09/06/2007 21:47

hollyandalice · 09/06/2007 21:57

I want to pump up my birth pool and fill it up and get in it! It is sat there teasing me!!

kittylette · 09/06/2007 21:58

I feel for you all!

I was due june 12th last year and the last 4 weeks were hell!

I was using 2 fans at night.

juuule · 09/06/2007 22:20

Heaps of sympathy heading your way. I was due 10th June 2003 and went 2 weeks over - really difficult. I was sitting outside at 3 in the morning just to cool off. Hope the wait is over for you soon.

flightattendant · 10/06/2007 05:54

Beck!!! Honey I have a feeling these 'due dates' are simply a ploy to get us really frustrated! Sorry you haven't had stirrings yet, nothing here either except an incredible urge to Not Be Pregnant Any More!

Can't sleep to save my life, though I know it's the one useful thing I should be doing right now... how was your curry?!!

OP posts:
beckmo · 10/06/2007 06:10

The curry was lovely - but have since been up most of the night chowing on Gaviscon! Not quite the effect I was hoping for....

Have convinced myself my baby thinks it has another month in me and it's going to need more than a few spices to get it moving.

Keep giving my clary sage and raspberry leaf tea rueful looks. Starting to think Holland and Barrett were the people that instigated the myth of these things triggering labour/ripening cervixes and THAT'S how they continue to be open....on the back of gullible, desperate pregnant women!

beckmo · 10/06/2007 06:10

Just seen the time you posted your message and see you can't sleep either!

eidsvold · 10/06/2007 06:32

I obviously did not plan things well - had each of my babes in summer. August in the UK and then November in Aus BUT worst was dd3 - born in March so third trimester in the hottest time of year. Not good - temps were in the mid to high 30's at times!!

A hint - wet a face washer and stick it in a plastic bag in the fridge. Then wipe face and across back of knees, neck - very refreshing.

eidsvold · 10/06/2007 06:33

so sympathies. I also lived in sarongs and nursing bras... also had some cotton drawstring shorts - not flattering BUT ohhh so comfy.

pucca · 10/06/2007 07:58

I also was pg last year same as NBG, ds was born 6th Aug, and last July was horrific! i was lucky enough to be able to borrow a air con unit, which was bliss! had it in the bedroom, and could have happily spent all my time there!

My feet were like balloons, and i was feeling very sorry for myself, lol.

I don't think the weather has been that hot (yet) prob will get much warmer.

pooka · 10/06/2007 08:03

I wallowed in the paddling pool in the garden when was really hot before ds was born (early sept). With dd, used to sit with feet in a bucket of water (July birth). Echo sarongs and maternity bras. Not pretty, but very comfortable.

flightattendant · 10/06/2007 09:20

Am now loving the maternity shorts I got for 7 quid in H&M last winter...'just in case'...never thought I'd use them but they are blissful, I've no shame left, even though my legs are white, flabby and have stubble! (last time I could see them that is

Refuse to bare the bump in public though...would feel too naked

mamijacacalys · 10/06/2007 13:33

Sympathies to you all.

Had DS Sept 2002 and DD July 2006 - both were hot summers.

Main memory of last June was watching the World Cup in front of whirring fan in manner of beached-whale.

Agree that PJs are fab maternity wera!

bumperlicious · 10/06/2007 13:46

Sympathies FA, I have a week to go and am boiling! Ice cream helps though!

flightattendant · 10/06/2007 15:12

Hey there! How are you doing?

BTW, What does everyone do about getting comfy? My ribs just ache so much, and so no slouching, no laying back on sofa due to stomach being squashed flat and feeling full, and no lying on back/front because my back hurts or there's a great big bump in the way!!

I'm stuffed really aren't I?

OP posts:
MrsMar · 10/06/2007 18:09

I've been dreading the summer since finding out I'm pg... there are quite a few of us at work who are pg, and all of them are having their babies in the next few weeks. Whenever they complain, I remind them I've got to go through the whole of July and August, and half of september, plus I won't be starting mat leave until 1st Sept so I'll still have to commute by tube during those months!!! OMG I'm going to die!

The sarong and fan thing sounds very appealing. Gigantic fan, billowing fabric (not much else clothing) large jug of iced drink.... hmmm! However, have just found out that I will have Thames Water digging a frigging GIGANTIC hole outside my house for three months starting next week, with a frigging GIGANTIC scaffold totally overlooking my garden, so I won't even be able to sit out there without some dodgy builder staring at me! Hmmm nice!
