Glucose Tolerance Test

Hi I'm 33 weeks pregnant.

Had glucose in urine at midwife appointment on Tuesday. They phoned me at work yesterday as they think I might have a urine infection(I haven't the bottle wasn't sterile as I was trying to get rid of the glucose - but don't tell them) Anyway I mention that the glucose is still there 4 days later (5 if you include today - I work in a hospital and have checked my urine daily since the midwife found the glucose) and she asked if I had a family history of diabetes. BAD QUESTION! My mother has type II diabetes on insulin and my sister had gestational diabetes. My Aunty has it as well I think.
To cut a long story short they have booked me in for a GTT on Monday morning. I can't have diabetes. I'M A SELF CONFESSED CHOCOHOLIC!

if it is GD, then it might well go when you have the baby.....it needs taking care of , but you know that !

I feel for you, Typhoonsmum, I am the same - had GD last pg and am booked in for GTT in a month's time. The good news, as Lulumama says, is that it's very common for GD to disappear after the baby is born, as you prob know from your sister. Mine went by my 6-week postnatal appt. Yes, you're at a higher risk of developing Diabetes II later on, but you can still have chocolate with that (if you're sensible about it). My dietitian said that they're usually very strict with GD patients but less so with Diabetes I or II patients, so it shouldn't be the end of the world. It's the blood-testing that bothers me the most though
