Maternity Wear - Tips

Hi Ladies!

This is my first time posting, so I'm not exactly sure if this is the right area to post this topic in. I’m more of a MN lurker than joiner. Anyways I’m 15+5 now and starting to show- lots! What I could really use some help or tips with is maternity wear.

I’ve been on the likes of ASOS and so on, but for some reason every shop seems to think that pregnant women turn into sea faring OAP’s once they’re expecting. Just because I look like a beached whale doesn’t mean I need to wear the nautical theme! So I can’t seem to find anything that isn’t your basic, you horizontal line (the good old navy and white), or your floral pattern and also the very few things I like seem to cost quite a bit.

I’m looking at buying larger sizes for stretchy items, but if anyone has any shops they know of or any tips then I’ll love you forever.
Love,
Baby Shamu x

I really liked Zara and Gap during both pregnancies. They do a lot of loose smock type tops and dresses and button down shirts that can be oversized. I imagine cos has some of the same type of thing too although I've not tried them.
They were useful for afterwards, have worn an awful lot whilst breastfeeding as I think nursing clothes are the ugliest waste of money ever!

Ooh Zara never even crossed my mind- that's a really good idea thanks!

Gap, H&m and Debenhams online. Also topshop.

I like the Katie Piper range at wantthattrend.com, lots of nice stretchy dresses that fit from an early stage, are comfy and reasonably priced.

I got jeans and cropped jeans from Jojo Maman Baby as they were one of the few places that did straight leg rather than skinny, they are lovely but only really fit well now that my bump is getting big (28 weeks).

H&M good for cheap basics e.g. vest tops, denim shorts, leggings etc.

I wouldn't buy things that are just a size bigger - I did that and they just made me look fat rather than pregnant!

I have found H&M to be very good for cheap t-shirts this summer.
I have bought a few things from Seraphine, more expensive but nice: one pair of jeans, one pair of leggings, a skirt and a jumper. I have worn all of them loads so feel that cost-per-wear they are worth it.

Sorry should have said - H&M maternity range.

I have had two orders from Happy Mama (bad name, decent clothes). I have 2 of these tops, 2 dresses and leggings.

They're maybe H&M quality? Nearly everything comes in plan colours so no stripes!

I'm loving jojo Maman Bebe dresses! I bought a few for the summer and have lived in them for the last 3-4 months! They're so comfy. They're nursing dresses too so will last after- they're pricey but worth it. They've got 20% off a few at the moment too x

I bought some jeggings from boohoos maternity section and was pleasantly suprised, they look a lot better than I expected just like skinny jeans.
I've also been buying loose fitting dresses and those stretchy jersey skirts, so comfy and easy to wear!

AGREED, most maternity wear is bloody awful. I've got some H&M skinny jeans in blue and black - quite a nice fit although they do fall down a bit where I only have small bump. I have some nice oversized woolies for when it's a bit colder from Zara and uniqlo and I've found some nice maternity tops on ASOS but have had to wade through some bollocks to find them on the website.
I have a work Xmas do when I'm going to be 8 months preggo and haven't a clue what to wear, it's all flouncy and frilly monstrosities I've seen so far. What I wanna be is a cool weeble ya know?
