Fetal Movements - 30 weeks are they reduced?

I am 30 weeks this weekend, and since yesterday afternoon my movements have changed.

When I say changed, I was for the last 2 weeks feeling her move like shes pushing on my belly from one side to the other, with the occasional strong kick, but I was well aware of strong moving/rolling.

Since yesterday lunchtime, all I have felt is wriggles in my pelvis, like what I felt at 20 weeks. I had a bath last night, didn't stimulate much at all. OH was poking my bump, didn't stimulate anything like it usually does - she normally kicks back. My cuppa tea this morning has stimulated more pelvic wriggling but nothing further up - I can't even feel her! No hard bits or anything. Squishy bump.

Would this warrant, in your opinion, a reason for reduced movements and to go down the hospital? I am asking because I have mixed opinions from people around me and I do suffer from anxiety so can be a little more "worst case scenario" than most.

Thank you

If in any doubt get it checked, the hospitals encourage it and would rather see you for an hour and everything be ok than not. I went 3 or 4 times in third trimester with DD, and the staff were lovely every one. So please give them a call and go in

I’m sure it’s fine, but any change in movement like that should be checked. Give your Maternity Assessment Unit a call and they’ll probably ask you in so they can check her on a trace. And no doubt she’ll wriggle like a maniac as soon as they do, just to make you feel like a massive idiot Wink

Id call and get it checked. Most likely when you go in baby will start kicking off, thats what mines been doing! Ive been in 5 times and each time they tell me to come back if it happens again. And i do. Theyre there for a reason. As one midwife said to me "we are here anyway. You coming in doesnt effect us at all but can be key in reassuring you and helping your pregnancy". Good luck

Hope all is ok @Italianshark

As I thought, and hoped, all back to normal. I think this one is out to test me! Thanks for your messages though, I won't worry about going down the hospital in future and just call xx

@Italianshark that's great and really reassuring as I'm experiencing exactly the same!! Still feeling him but differently. Glad to hear all is ok!

Italianshark · 13/09/2018 22:53

@GreenGooner oh no! Have you had any joy this afternoon? My bump was squishy when I couldn't feel much and now it's hard again. I wonder whether it's down to what way they face? x

He's definitely wriggling away in there @Italianshark and I'm pretty sure he's in a different position. I've had some kicks during the night so I'm not concerned now. I'll keep my eye on him as always. I have a growth scan on Thursday so will be interesting to see what position he's in now. He's spent a lot of time with his feet in my ribs so I think when he'd moved, it cause a bit of panic. Fingers crossed for a smoother 10ish week hey!!

@GreenGooner a lifetime of worry is just beginning 🙈! Glad he's perked up x
