So I know it’s unlikely but you can be pregnant and have negative tests, what is the chance of this happening, like the probability of it happening? Thanks x

Click on the brand and it will show the stats by dpo.

It can happen but it depends on a lot of things. If you're testing too early or using a lesser sensitive test you could be getting negatives despite being pregnant.

Some tests can detect pregnancy before you miss your period but I'd wait until the day you're due. Use first pee off the day and a pink dye test, I'd recommend first Response.

Good luck Smile

How late are you? Have you recently come off any contraception that could have knocked your hormones out of whack?

Pomfluff · 12/09/2018 09:49

I was 4-5 weeks pregnant and got a negative test due to using too-diluted urine during the day. Was surprised since it was an early response one that's supposed to detect tiny amounts of HCG, however it showed up entirely negative...not even a hint of a line.

I’ve had the implant Nexplanon at the beginning of August and not had a period since, test was at least 24 days after conception

If you had a blood test more than 14 days after ovulation, you aren't pregnant.

If I had a nickel for every time a woman experienced 'early pregnancy' symptoms after coming off hormonal birth control, I would be a very rich woman.

The symptoms are real and exist because your body is adjusting to a lack of hormones that were there before but now aren't.

You could ovulate at any time after coming off bc and af (or a positive test) should follow about two weeks later.

Give your body time. It's frustrating, but be kind to yourself. Stress can delay ovulation.

Change of name but same question?

TinyMarie · 12/09/2018 11:41

I thought the same @Justturned50. Daily occurrence now.

Justturned50 · 12/09/2018 11:55

Tinymarie. I hope she can get herself sorted soon.

Please go and speak to someone urgently. Maybe show them all the threads on here? Be honest with the doctor surrounding your fixations on thinking you are pregnant. This website cannot help you any longer but I'm sure everyone wishes you well and hopes you recover soon.

Stephisaur · 12/09/2018 15:33

@rungirl42 not everyone gets periods on the implant, my 2 friends don't.

It CAN cause pregnancy SYMPTOMS though due to the artificial hormones being pumped through your body. There's an adjustment period of 3-6 months.

Hope this helps :)

Stephisaur · 12/09/2018 15:35

Oh, if you meant that you've had the implant OUT since the beginning of August, then again - the change in your hormonal balance from no longer having artificial hormones pumped through you can also make you feel a bit weird.

Again, it wouldn't be unusual to experience pregnancy symptoms. You should get a period eventually, but it might take a while. You could test once a week until you either get a positive test or a period though as you could still ovulate during this time.

Rungirl42 · 12/09/2018 15:47

I had it inserted at the beginning of August

Oh!!! Then you aren't pregnant at all. It's the presence of hormones that mimic pregnancy (found in the implant) that are giving you these symptoms. Your body is essentially being tricked into thinking it's pregnant and therefore not ovulating. If you don't ovulate regularly, your period may disappear or become very irregular. Many people don't get periods on the implant and this SHOULD have been explained to you when you got the implant.

Some people's bodies adjust and eventually they get their period. Other women have no periods at all on the implant. It isn't for everyone... But again, this is something you look at when researching and choosing the best method of contraception for yourself.
