Just eaten out of date natural yogurt - to stress or not to stress?

Hey all, Just looking for some reassurance and a few smacks around the chops if I am being totally OTT by worrying about this. I was rooting around at the back of the fridge for a pud just now and found a natural yogurt (a pasteurised one by Yeo Valley), stuffed three teaspoons down my gob, before realising that the use by date was yesterday. I have high anxiety during pregnancy so obviously this has got me panicking. Please talk some sense into me and prevent me from Googling! Am I right in thinking that yogurt, as long as it is kept in a cold fridge and sealed is actually ok for a couple of weeks? Thank you!

It will be fine, try not to stress yourself

TanteRose · 11/09/2018 14:44

It will be absolutely fine - don’t worry Smile

It will be fine. I’m pregnant and eat out of date yoghurt a lot Blush

Yoghurt goes weeks passed its 'date'. It just gets more yoghurty. You'll be fine.
If you think about it, cheese is far older!

Yoghurt is fine well beyond it's date. I have yogurt currently in use that is two weeks beyond. It's perfectly fine and very tasty. You can tell when yoghurt if off and even when it is it won't do you much harm.

If a small carton yoghurt, you can tell when they're off as the lid will be bulgy (around two weeks after date), yoghurt in massive open tub will go mouldy before it goes off.

That's amazing, thanks so much everyone! I know I'm being a bit of a Paranoid Pandora. I'm usually so careful with food during pregnancy as scared to death of getting Listeria and Toxoplasmosis but I'm super tired and getting fatigued with the constant worry 33 weeks in!

@SoyDora - that's super reassuring to know, thank you! I'm looking so forward to the baby arriving so I can eat every forbidden food on the list and be a bit more laid back with everything!
