WWYD - Possible eclampsia and bringing induction forward?

I’m currently 38+4 and due on 21/9 and booked in to be induced on my due date (as I’m 36 😱 plus other health issues)

I had full blown post-partum eclampsia in my last pregnancy which resulted in a seizure 3 days after birth at home and I was re-admitted to the high dependency unit on a magnesium sulfate drip.

Throughly my last pregnancy my blood pressure had moments of being high and I had traces of protein in my urine. Apparently the traces and high readings (home machine) were never never high or constant enough to be classed as preeclampsia.

This pregnancy I’ve had no protein whatsoever and blood pressure has been stable until 36 weeks. My Consultant has told me to monitor it daily with my home machine, see the Assessment Unit weekly and contact them if the bottom number is above 95 3 times. Since then I’ve now been in to every 2/3 days to be monitored as my readings are high. Typically, the readings were ‘normal’ once I got to the Assessment Unit which was the same as last time.

So I suppose my question is, I’m terrified of being induced but wondering if I should suck it up and ask for this Friday (39+0) to avoid the trips to be monitored every few days and the anxiety that comes with it? I might be having a sweep, if possible, on Thursday.

Sorry for the long post but I wanted to get all the detail in there.

I hope you're ok. Pregnancy after these kind of issues can be so nerve wracking. I think it's worth asking at your next appointment but if you and the baby are well, they may not say yes as your issues last time were post natal. However you should be able to speak to someone about how understandably stressed you're feeling.

I didn't have eclampsia but I did have severe pre eclampsia in my first pregnancy and was induced just before 35 weeks. In my second pregnancy I also had several trips to assessment with high blood pressure but there was never any mention of pre emptive inductions. In fact I went on to be induced for going 2 weeks overdue!

I did actually go on to develop pre eclampsia post natally - I'm not saying this to scare you because I was absolutely fine. my consultant said that if issues like this do reoccur they tend to be later and milder and this certainly was the case with me.

Thank you @Girlwiththearabstrap. The midwife I'm seeing on Thursday is really lovely so I'm going to discuss everything with her. They've said the chances of it happening again are very low although google says otherwise.

I forgot to add before, another Consultant, not my usual one but part of his team was pushing for induction at 37 weeks due to my history but I refused.

Induction can seem terrifying and I understand your trepidation.
Induction can be tough on the body and it does make labour more painful if you have to have the drip (which you might not need)
I have had two inductions and can assure you that it is ok - I would say 100% preferable to full blown eclampsia and seizures, which could cost your life.
It’s not ideal but getting baby out safe and you safe has got to be the priority.
If it were me I would take another induction if I had too. Good luck OP - be brave, it will be worth it in the end.
