Sickness and constipation misery

Yes I have the double whammy of all day nausea (feeling like I’m on a boat) and blocked up. I have to eat to stave off the sickness but I literally feel full up to my throat and it’s making me gag. I’m constantly swallowing and so uncomfortable. I’m trying to drink sips often.

The pharmacist wouldn’t sell anything cause I’m pregnant so visited the GP. She prescribed lactulose on Friday and it’s made little difference. I’ve had a very stringy soft poo (looks like overflow) sorry tmi Blush

I’m ok with the constant sickness but this is miserable. I know it’s for a reason but I feel like I’m going to explode and am constantly gagging.

Help!!!

My gp was happy to prescribe me movicol/laxido during my pregnancy. Safe and worked a treat. You can buy it over the counter at the pharmacy.

thanks funnyface do you know if movicol/loxido similar to senna? Did it have any side effects or cause an upset stomach?

Totally different. Senna would act as a laxative and along with that comes cramps and gas. Movicol (laxido is another brand name that's cheaper but it's really the same thing) is a stool softener. It draws water into the bowel which keeps your poo soft and keeps you going regular. Trust me when I say it's good stuff, I suffer from chronic constipation even when I'm not pregnant.

So it won't cause you any cramps or upset stomach. Just lovely, easy, regular trips to the toilet.

Meant to add that lactulose has never worked for me, I don't recommend it at all.

I had it with first pregnancy and pharmacist advised lots and lots and lots of warm water. I drank it constantly for hours and it worked. Was a struggle but worth it.

Thank you 🙏 sending DH off to buy it now

He got me movicol - the pharmacist said lactulose is very gentle and doesn’t work for some people. Thank goodness for the late night pharmacy. Have already downed a glass and had a lot of water alongside. Sleep now and more in the morning.

Thank you Smile

Good luck with it. It might take a couple of sachets to get things moving, then you can scale back to probably just one a day to keep yourself regular. Once you get to that stage you should really start to feel better.
