Possible slapped cheek exposure

I'm 6+5 weeks pregnant and 2 year old DS possibly has slapped cheek syndrome. The lovely GP we saw today has ordered blood tests for meto be done tomorrow morning.

Anyone any experience of this? I've done a fair bit of reading into it but would still be lovely to hear from others, good or bad outcomes.

Hi OP, both my kids had slapped cheek virus and I was cuddling kids at work who had slapped cheek the week before I found out that I was pregnant, so I would have been about 5 weeks.

I was already under the care of a gynaecologist and happen to have an appointment which was unrelated to my pregnancy when I was 6 weeks. She booked me in for a scan at 8 weeks because I was worried.
Everything was fine and I'm now 25 weeks pregnant.

Had I not had that early scan I would have gone private. Which I did actually at 16 weeks as extra reassurance!

Thanks for the reply! I have already booked a private scan at 8 weeks so that's reassuring, though I'm slightly worried about what they'll find. I've read it can take a couple of weeks for the bloods to come back to decipher if I'm immune/infected so it will be a long wait. Glad to hear everything was ok with you :)

Hi!
I work in a school and found out I’d been working with a child who had slapped cheek. I said I’d never had it myself as a child and was tested. Luckily results came back that I was immune. They said symptoms can sometimes be hard to tell and that I must have had it as a child. Have had another few children this pregnancy with the condition in my class over the summer too. Good luck x

I'm a teacher and was exposed when I was pregnant with DS1. I had the blood test and found I was immune. The vast majority of adults are, I believe, often having had it without realising.

Bloods done. Now it's a waiting game. Fingers crossed I'm already immune :)

My son got slapped cheek when I was 9 weeks pregnant. I had my bloods checked and wasn't immune. It was an anxious wait but didn't catch it and bloods a month later were ok. Fingers crossed you are immune but just wanted to share to let you know that even if you aren't it doesn't mean that you will definitely catch it!

Thanks moomoo will try stay positive

I work in a school and was exposed to it when I was about 18 weeks. Had a blood test that confirmed I was immune.

Well I'm not immune and the virus didn't show up on my bloods. Getting them done again in 4 weeks to be sure. But generally feeling a little less anxious about it :)
