Has anyone else experienced this? I can’t remember feeling this with DC1. As soon as I stand up it feels like the head is pushing on my cervix- I sat on my birth ball for the first time last night and it felt like if i moved too much the baby would come out! I’ve had additional growth scans due to low Papp-a and seen that baby is big and head was very low down and at my last mw appt she said it felt like the head was pretty locked in and not likely to pop back out again.
Does this look like the baby might come early or pretty normal for a second pregnancy? DC1 came at 39+6 and dr and mws we’re convinced he’d be early as he was fully engaged from around 37 weeks

I'm 34 weeks, have also been told I'm having a big baby and feel like this. Every time I stand up I feel like he's going to fall out! I have SPD too so that probably doesn't help.

Probably TMI, but here goes. I felt I had to hold my second DD's head in every time I went for a poo in the last couple of weeks of my second pregnancy. I didn't have any medical issues during pregnancy, or anything after, everything down there sent back to normal after. She was engaged at 36 weeks and born, in 2 hours, at 38+4.
Good luck!!

Oh interesting!
Olderthan: I can totally see myself feeling this too. I’m getting fanny daggers every time I need to walk anywhere but I’d really like to stay as active as possible. Got some nerve pain/sciatica too which doesn’t help.

Really hoping I get some time on mat leave before the baby comes but I guess it’s better to be a bit early than late! Good to know I’m not alone!

I had this with DD2. TMI coming up: I had to take a pessary at around 34w for an infection. I only got my finger in about 2cm before I clearly felt her skull. I think if I’d sneezed too hard she would’ve fallen out. She was born at 38+1.

Nopoohbear · 09/09/2018 20:09

Chloechloe- omg that’s crazy!!
Thinking this baby’s going to come early, I’m already getting twinges and slight cramps at night but pretty sure dc1 was the same from around this time. So hard not knowing!

Also I don’t think there’s ever tmi on the pregnancy board!

@Chloechloe Shock

Foodylicious · 09/09/2018 20:17

I'm 36+2 with #2 and feeling just the same!
Lots of twinges and pressure. Having to stop mid step at times.

But, I also have IBS and the trapped wind has been horrendous at times!

It's so hard to tell.
Some times I think things are happening very soon, then I'm sure I could easily go another few weeks.

chloechloe · 09/09/2018 21:12

Shock indeed! My Dr kept commenting about how her head was reeeeaaaallly far down but it still came as quite a shock (and rather fascinating at the same time!)

DirtyThirties · 10/09/2018 07:00

More than likely nothing to worry about, but a lot of pressure can be a sign of an incompetent cervix which can be dangerous. It's worth mentioning to your midwife (sorry if this comes across as negative but wouldn't want anyone to dismiss it just in case)

SuperVeggie · 10/09/2018 07:27

@DirtyThirties why would an incompetent cervix be dangerous if OP is already at 36 weeks? I thought the biggest risk was going into early labour (like dangerously early, second trimester) but if OP is already this far along and did turn out to have an incompetent cervix it surely wouldn’t be a problem if she did go into labour now? Sorry just curious about this because I have been investigated for IC and the docs seemed to imply that the risk was only in second trimester. Thanks.

Foodylicious · 10/09/2018 09:36

As far as I know, (I was at risk of IC last pregnancy and closely monitored) the risk is not really considered a risk this late on in pg and it's not uncommon for a woman to be a couple of centimetres dilated for a few weeks before labour etc...

I have the joy of two weekly appts this time round due to antibodies so having 2 weekly bloods.
Will see what the MW has to say about it tomorrow.
The pressure I have now is squishing a nerve and making walking pretty painful at times.

How are you today Nopoohbear

MinisterforCheekyFuckery · 10/09/2018 09:58

Probably TMI, but here goes. I felt I had to hold my second DD's head in every time I went for a poo in the last couple of weeks of my second pregnancy

I have this going on now and I'm only 34 weeks! Seriously dread going for a poo now as everytime I go I feel like I'm going to kick start early labour! Don't remember this at all with my first.

DirtyThirties · 10/09/2018 11:33

I'm no expert but that's my understanding too I.e. the main risk of ic being early labour which is less of an issue at 36 weeks. I'm flagging it mainly because anyone with similar symptoms will Google it and come cross this thread and we wouldn't want it to be dismissed

Nopoohbear · 10/09/2018 12:45

Foody, not too bad today thanks. How are you feeling?
Yes I would definitely describe it as squishing a nerve, it really takes my breath away! I have another scan on wed so might be able to see how the baby is lying.
Feeling a bit anxious about plans for dc1 when I go into labour- hoping my mum (who’s supposed to look after him) is starting to take it seriously now and will realise it’s getting closer!
