Does anyone have any tips?

This is number 2 and my last change bag was rubbish - really awkward to find anything - this time I am looking at a pacapod mirano

www.pacapod.com/products/mirano-tan

but it is £110 (which I guess for something you use everyday for a good few years could be justified) but it is heavy before I add anything.

The ability to see everything in this bag is amazing!

I have started looking at backpack bags on eBay which are about £30 which look good but hard to judge without actually seeing.

I don’t want to buy the cheaper one the. End up buying the more expensive one anyway!

Any thoughts or tips?

I've got the babymel Jesse bag which has loads of internal and external pockets - great for keeping things tidy. Looked at the babymel Robyn which is a backpack but it was way bigger than I needed.

I also got it brand new, with labels from an eBay shop for £30 so pretty reasonable price wise

I will have a look! Thanks!

I haven't bought it yet but I really want a pacapod! They look amazing and have a lot of great reviews and awards. But they are expensive! I am trying to think of it like a handbag though. They are real leather and I would pay £100 for a good leather handbag. You are going to use this bag EVERYDAY so I think it's okay to splash out a little. For me, I will hopefully use it for baby 1, 2 & 3 so 6+ years for £100 I can justify. If I were to buy a cheaper one it might fall apart and I'd end up buying a new one every year which may actually cost more in the long run!

I’ve had every changing bag going. I’ve got a mirano and it’s heavy. It was ok for me with one baby but I don’t think I’d want it swinging round my neck trying to keep track of two kids. I like the look of those eBay ones. I’d also fancy a tiba and mark or jem and bea backpack if I had another.

Sophie, my first changing bag was a pacapod Sydney, it still looks new and I still use it occasionally now (my lb is nearly 5)

We just had the silver cross one that matched the pram. I like everything to match so was not a question for me.
Bag itself was awkward as anything but it matched the pram and the rest of the pram accessories so we put up with it.

It depends on if you are bottle feeding as you obviously need more room if you are. I have 2 ordinary changing bags which were expensive but pretty useless if I'm going out for a day. I now have a cute rucksack I got for a fiver, and an organiser in the bottom I got on eBay for 2 quid, and it holds loads I get 2 thermos and 4 bottles in there with everything else!

SophieStripe · 08/09/2018 12:26

Jessica that's me even more sold! I want a backpack style one, either the saunton or heartland although heartland in tan is over £200!!! Both can convert from backpack to handbag style straps. I use backpacks a lot for work and love being hands free.

Pamdoo · 08/09/2018 12:27

I love those rucksack ones, I wish I'd seen those before!

Fluffywuffyunicorn · 08/09/2018 12:29

I'v got two of the backpack ones. You can fit in loads, and there's a zip on the back so you can find things in the bottom without pulling everything out. The only thing I'd say is that one couldn't fit in mam bottles but the others could. On amazon there's always lighten deals on them.

I’ve got a pacapod Oban, it’s not crazy expensive as it’s not leather. I like it as it’s pretty compact and I can take just the changing pod when I go on short trips.

I also have a storksak and the changing mat is so well padded and large and comfy. But the bag itself looks massive with all the baby stuff in.

I prefer the pacapod as the food/clothes/nappies are easy to locate & I don’t need to rummage around for things.

butlerswharf · 08/09/2018 12:46

I have a pacapod. They're great. They also have good resale value on eBay.

HettieBettie · 08/09/2018 12:47

I have the babymel backpack (off eBay £35) it’s like your loory first pick and it’s bloody amazing. Especially with 2 x

InDubiousBattle · 08/09/2018 12:56

I am a cautionary tale when it comes to change bags. I have had 6.
1st - cheap rucksack (£15)from new look or somewhere similar. Rubbish because it had no compartments at all and wasn't waterproof
2nd - BabaBing one (around £40). It was a messenger bag and it made one of my shoulders ache whenever I carried it which was all of the bloody time as it slipped down the buggy
3rd- Pacapod (around £100). I managed to convince myself that if I spent a small fortune on a bag I'd be more organised. I wasn't. More bag than space , far too big and bulky.
4th- Babymel (£40) Bought this one when I had dd. Can't remember why, probably the hormones!
5th and 6th- Two Jeep rucksacks. By far the best. Water proof, goes on both shoulders, enough compartments and room. I have a small ish one for short trips or if I only have one dc and a bigger one for full days out. I think I paid about £15-20 each for them in TK Maxx.

JessicaPeach · 08/09/2018 13:28

The Staunton one isn’t leather btw, just leather look

MaverickSnoopy · 08/09/2018 14:03

I got the pacapod (second hand) about 6 months ago. I decided to get it as I'm pregnant with my 3rd and wanted a better bag. I gave it a trial with my toddler and tbh it wasn't all that. Then again I wasn't using it for young baby supplies - more colouring books etc. The bag is pretty big and while the concept is great, I personally didn't really utilise all of the different compartments. I ended up getting a back pack which has been amazing. Not sure what I'll do when the baby arrives.

RiceButt · 08/09/2018 14:19

I have this changing bag, it was between this one and the one in your first picture.

I love it, very roomy and doesn't feel like a changing bag as it's not the the typical over the shoulder bag you get with travel systems.

Also comes with 2 clips for the pram handle so you can clip the bag on and off.
