Hi, I'm new here so don't really know how this is gonna go! But last Saturday I found out I'm pregnant with a first response as a faint line. I took one again 3 days later and have a good line on it. I have recurrent early miscarriages so usually go on to bleed very early. Yesterday I had already had 3 loo trips and took a strip test from the chemist as I was feeling anxious if I'm still pregnant. The strips are 25miu and I was about 14dpo and the line was very faint.. I had drank a bottle of a drink in the morning as I didn't think about taking a test until later on in the morning. So today I took another test with second morning urine and the line was still faint but a tiny bit darker. I'm really worrying that it's an impending miscarriage. Has anyone had this issue with strip tests? I had a stillbirth in November and have been trying ever since with 4 early losses around 4 weeks. I'm under a consultants care and am on 75mg of aspirin and got them to prescribe be progesterone pessaries. Any advice would be appreciated Smile

I got a negative on a strip test at the hospital after several positives at home (had to go in for some early bleeding) at 4+4. I’m now 11 weeks.

I had to have the viability of my pregnancy confirmed by blood tests and the midwife I spoke to at the EPU specifically told me not to do more tests while I was waiting.

She basically said they are not designed as a diagnostic tool to say how pregnant you are or if a pregnancy is continuing or not. Only a blood test will do that.

I can only imagine how stressful this must be for you and I’m obviously not an expert, but I’d personally suggest not testing further and calling your EPU or consultant (or whoever!) for advice as it could just cause extra worry.

Really hope it’s all ok and goes well for you.

As PP says, call your Early Pregnancy Assessment clinic / unit.

I read that doing regular tests to see if you are still pregnant cannot be trusted, because even if sadly you lose the pregnancy your body continues to make pregnancy hormones for a while afterwards. Hopefully this is not the case for you but it’s something to bear in mind and avoid repeating testing for that reason.
