My new pushchair stinks!!!

Just had it delivered from John Lewis. It's great, even if it did take an hour to assemble, but it absolutely stinks of new plastic. My baby's three months away so perhaps the smell will fade, but it can't be healthy for him. I've had the pushchair out doors for the past two days and it still smells as strong. Shall I leave it in the rain with the rain hood on??? Any tips???

The smell will go eventually. Just be patient!

Only suggestion I have is febreeze or something? Leave it outside as much as you can. The smell will go. Any way you can wash it?

New pram smell is bliss .!!

Hate to say it but I think its pregnancy hormones giving you more to worry about!!! Our ds is 17 weeks and we have just sold our old pram and he has a brand spanking new one (was using dd's old one)DH & I last week were just discussing the new pram smell..exactly like getting a new car .

I wouldn't worry too much, it will fade especially if you leave it unwrapped and assembled, don't spray it with anything else, I do know what you mean but it will have plenty of time to stop being so pungent!

We bought a second hand one which smelt of cigarette smoke (yuk) but just left it outside for a few days, then around the house, and it doesn't smell at all now.

you might also be suffering from pregnancy dog nose.

I could smell something v v slightly iffy in the fridge from the front door when I was pregnant.

And which quality street had been next to a strawberry cream.

Thanks for the tips everyone, I'm going to wheel it out into the sunshine whenever I can. I was tempted to blast it with something like febreeze pps, but I was worried about more chemicals. Call me a silly, neurotic 30something overanalyser (!) I was a wee bit worried about too many chemicals (God I'm such a sap, I've even got glass bottles ffs!) I've read too many horror stories about all those new car/new carpet/new everything smells being laden with formaldehyde fumes and all sorts of nasties! Perhaps I'll do something hippyish like mixing up some lemonjuice, rose water and something else fluffy and spritz it myself (or I could just stop fretting and leave it out in the rain for a few days!!)

I don't think they would be allowed to put formaldehyde or anything remotely dangerous into a pushchair...I hope that's reassuring, good luck!!

Don't think it would need to be in the rain but just out in fresh air will help.
