Hi I require urgent advice please.
I am 36 + 3 days pregnant. I cannot feel the baby move at all. I went to the hospital at 35 weeks and was kept overnight for monitoring, however the midwifes keep saying the baby is fine because the ctg heart beat is showing between 130-180 bpm and there is no steady line so the baby is fine?? Is this normal? My baby is usually very very active. It's been 7 days and I haven't felt no movement. I have been going to the hospital everyday to get monitored.

Hello, I had the same problem as you, I felt no movement but my placenta was anterior so this was also the cause. But because I went in 3 times within a certain time frame, they induced me just to be safe.
I presume they have explained how it goes but mine was like this;
I was booked in at 12 on the Friday, they put the first pessary in, only dilated 1cm in the 24 hours.
The second pessary they put in on sat morning, also didn't do much but it was enough to get in and break my waters, although I had a few 'contractions' through the night that were quite painful. They gave me painkillers for it.
They told me I had to wait for a space in the labour ward so Sunday night at about half 10 they took me to the labour ward, put me on the drip, broke my waters at about half 11 and it all came on very fast after that. Being induced means you get the pain faster and stronger apparently but I've only had one baby so can't compare. But yeah it came on fast and strong so fast, I asked for an epidural within an hour of having my waters broken but the guy was busy so had to wait, by the time they came with the epidural I was already 9cm dilated. They put the epidural in and gave me time to rest a bit as I was in pain for a while waiting for the epidural, although I did have gas and air. My baby was born at 6am exactly Monday morning. So it took a while initially to get things started but after they started it was quick! I only had to push about 4 times.
Good luck! I hope it's quick and easy for you!

During your pregnancy is there anything reliable that’s usually got your baby moving? Eg for some people it’s a pint of ice cold water. Or a fizzy drink (I hate fizzy drinks and never touch the stuff, but the hospital needed baby to turn around for my 20-week scan measurements and after a can of Cola that baby moved a lot!).

I had a pessary in at 1pm, had cramp and numb legs for about 45mins when walking around the hospital, then had loads of contractions. Pessary was removed 90 minutes later as was having too many contractions. Contractions calmed down and baby was born just before 11pm that night.

Make sure you have a birth partner who will time contractions for you and try to keep moving.

How is it going Zamin1

Zamin1 · 10/09/2018 23:52

Hi, I am currently at the hospital with loads of cramping and severe back pain. I went to the hospital at 10am. Got the pessary in at 3ish, severe pain kicked in around 9ish currently on cocodomol and paracetamol. It's going to be a long night, it's almost 12 now.

Does severe cramping mean I'm closing to going into full labour?

Thanks.

Good luck OP. This happened to me and I was induced. Quick labour. Not too bad. Lovely DS now asleep by my side. Hope it all goes well for you and your little one. Flowers

Thanks I'll keep you all posted. First child so I don't know whats happening. The pain is currently every 15minutes or so.

Good luck OP.

They say that you're in active labour when you're 4cm dilated.
Some people go by contractions (every 2 minutes) but mine were every 2 minutes from the very beginning of labour to the very end.
Each person is different so just listen to your body and trust your instincts!

You'll do great xx

There is such a thing as back labour and I had it with my dd and my back was v sore so I wouldn't be surprised If you are in labour already

Best of luck

Hi everyone! Sorry not been able to respond earlier..

I went into labour around 2.30pm 22hrs after the pessary. Contractions got very very strong around 5/6pm. I had all the drugs available lol. I gave birth to a healthy baby boy just after midnight. 😊 Got discharged from the hospital 7pm the next day. Extremely happy!

Thank you very very much for all the help and appreciate the fast responses!
