Hi, just wondering if anyone can help ... is there a date when your employer should lay out for you what maternity pay you are entitled to? Same as way we have to tell them by 25th week of pregnancy.

Im now 30weeks & my HR dept is telling me due to holidays they havent been able to give me my maternity pay schedule. Id love yo know who gets a month annual leave!!

Is it not stated in a policy somewhere? What pay you are entitled to?

PotteringAlong · 04/09/2018 20:12

What does the company policy say?

keepinghopeful · 04/09/2018 20:19

It states how many weeks full pay etc but I wanted to see what figures they have it worked out as to decide how long i can afford to take off (i have it roughly worked out myself). I thought maybe they had to formally put it in writing by a certain date.

I’ve had 3 children and have never had my maternity pay worked out for me and put formally in writing.

keepinghopeful · 04/09/2018 20:24

i know my company does do it as other colleagues have received it by latest 28 weeks.

I have never had it worked out for me either. It can only be an estimate anyway because the date that you start maternity leave can change.

Blueroses99 · 04/09/2018 20:35

To answer your question, no there is no requirement to put it in writing so no date that they have to do it by. As it’s something that your company does, check your policy to see when you should expect it by.

I’ve been really lucky in that my company have given me the maternity policy and for ease highlighted my entitlements. I’m really lucky in that I get 6 months full pay and then SMP. I did have to go to payroll to get a payslip modeller so that I’d understand what my pay would look like with just SMP (as I get some other benefits; car allowance etc.)

Thanks - perfect just was wondering if any legal requirement - I may just be patientBlush

My employer has said they will give me a breakdown of what I will get.
But not an exact date just ‘before I finish’

PrincessConsuelaBannanaHammock · 04/09/2018 20:47

I only received a breakdown of what I would receive the week before I finished. However I had to give my work 8 weeks notice to end my maternity leave so it was entirely up to me when I went back & I had plenty of time after receiving the breakdown to tell them when I was going back to work

Bumdishcloths · 04/09/2018 21:04

Read company policy and work it out roughly yourself? Eg if you're entitled to statutory maternity pay that's 90% of your average weekly earnings for the first six weeks. If you're on an annual salary, divide the sum by 52 and that's your weekly earnings, then divide that sum by 100 and times by 90. It's then "145.18 or 90% of your average weekly earnings (whichever is lower) for the next 33 weeks."

Foodylicious · 04/09/2018 21:13

Can you contact payroll/salaries and wages directly?
I did this about 3 weeks ago (I'm now 35 weeks and went on AL 2.5 weeks ago) and told them I would like pay evened out over 12 months and could they give me a projection of what my expected pay would look like.

They agreed to this and said would send it yo me by email mid September as I technically start mat leave in October.

I got an email with an estimated pay break down for the 12 months mat leave.

captainshortie · 04/09/2018 21:27

If its not company policy for them to tell you could you still ask?
We get a monthly bonus so our month to month pay is NEVER the same so really hard to work out.

The way mine works is i get 100% of my pay for 2 month, 50% next 2 months then smp after.
(I only get 100% cause our bonus scheme works a month in advanced, so e.g i get octobers bonus in december)

keepinghopeful · 04/09/2018 22:03

Yes thats what im looking for is a rough projection as i have 2 jobs with same company (2 payslips) so want to make sure Im getting mat pay from both as Im entitled to it as earn above the SMP rate in both jobs. We will see. Thanks for all the responses :)
