Any other teachers planning a pregnancy around the summer holidays?

Hi all,
Was wondering if there were any other teachers planning on getting pregnant, but basing it around summer hols. I was thinking that I didn’t want my maternity leave to be when I’m already being paid off work!! I’m gonna try and aim to get pregnant about September.. so I can have summer holidays seperate from my maternity, anyone else doing the same? Smile

This is me at the moment, I go back tomorrow until 20th. Baby due 24th. That’s if I can make it until 20th but completely doable. We did have a miscarriage first however, lost baby middle of December and was pregnant again a week later. No idea how we got so lucky but we did and I couldn’t be more thankful.

I'm a teacher and am due towards the end of this month. I am fortunate to land a September due date. HOWEVER please please bear in mind it can take months or even years to conceive. Even a couple with absolutely no fertility issues can take months. By all means give it a go but don't be disappointed if it doesn't work out to plan!

I genuinely didn't realise this was a thing! Surely you can't really expect to have that much control over what happens? Sadly we just dont have that much control over conceiving and keeping a pregnancy.
I've been happy with my November and May babies tbh. Yes the summer holidays fell right in the middle of my maternity leave this time round but I'm just happy to have my baby.

Even if you are 'lucky' enough to 'plan' a September birth, don't get your heart too set on it, out of 4 of us who were pregnant at my place and due at roughly the same time, 3 of us had prems ranging from 30-35 weeks

However, so many people have told me how well I’ve planned it all and how lucky we were to get a September baby - it drives me a bit nuts.

Reading this thread with interest as the wife of a teacher - I have also been told repeatedly that I 'planned it so well' because I gave birth in early July so he went straight from paternity to the summer holidays and is only just about to go back to work nearly eight weeks after DS was born. While that has all worked out well, I sometimes want to tell them that after well after a year trying and three miscarriages I really, really didn't plan it that way - if I'd had my way the baby would have been born in February 2017...

@girlwiththearabstrap yes it's a thing. There are 4 of us due within 6 weeks at my school. However, I totally agree you just don't know what's going to happen until you start trying - you have very little control really.

I came off the pill over 3 years ago and hoped for a baby who would be the oldest in the school year. Between then and now I was told it was likely I was going to have premature ovarian failure and I then suffered a miscarriage. Throughout the time I was adamant I didn’t want a summer baby in case he/she struggled. Even last year we were going to miss a month to avoid an August baby but on one particular day in November I just couldn’t ignore that it was ‘the right time’. It was such a weird, strong feeling and we only tried that one day that month. Anyway, I’m not back at work today as I’m snuggling my August baby. I wouldn’t change things for the world (plus it still worked out pretty well for maternity leave!).
