Hi ladies
I used limescaler remover on the shower today - it was kilrock brush on. Didn’t think anything till afterwards but cos this possibly be dangerous to unborn baby? I am in the third trimester.
I have used other household cleaners through pregnancy, bleach, dettol spray - I read that all were generally safe to use (part from oven cleaner!) xx

Hiya,, I ve heard to stay away from bleach and stronger cleaning products,, detol is fine tho although I would still wear gloves :) hope that's helped

I used bleach, bleach and lots of bleach during both pregnancies. The only thing I remember being told not to use was oven cleaner. Got me out of doing that for a while.

You're fine. Oven cleaner is the only one to avoid. You're likely to feel unwell long before anything affects the baby
Keep the room well ventilated and take regular breaks

I moved into a truly revolting house at 12 weeks pregnant. The vendor had left his dogs locked in for hours so it stank of piss, the toilets were encrusted in dried urine, there were inches of dust, literally inches, there was a thick layer of grease and an old sausage in the oven... it was dreadful! I scrubbed, bleached, scrubbed some more, got an oven cleaner burn on my arm (which after a long chat with a nice man on 111 we determined was fine as I'd only been rinsing the shelves off, someone else had done the rest), pulled up flooring, scrubbed a bit more. We went through bottles and bottles of bleach, spray cleaner, vinegar and any other cleaning product you can imagine. We definitely went through the Kilrock, the taps were like stalactites! And it was fine - DS is now 2.5 and hale and hearty. Keep the windows open, wear rubber gloves and don't overdo it, but you'll be fine Smile

It's absolutely fine and safe. The harm comes from regular prolonged exposure (working in the factory that makes it for example).

Doesn't mean I haven't used the minute risk to get DH to have bathroom cleaning duty throughout both pregnancies Grin

Thankyou ladies for your replies.
I was worried about breathing in the acid from the kilrock however, I was filling up the car today and the smell of petrol was rife and I thought to myself there is literally fumes everywhere so impossible to avoid!
@Spudlet aww bless you, that sounds like an absolute nightmare! I can’t velieve how some people live and how he could even think it was ok to leave the house in that state. You have made me feel tons better Thankyou - I just tend to do things on impulse and worry afterwards! 🤦🏼‍♀️ X
