30 weeks, just moved to a new area & struggling to register at hospital

I moved house to a new area a few weeks ago & am struggling to register at the hospital. I'm currently 30 weeks pregnant.

I've already had a nightmare registering at a Dr with the 3 closest all unable to take me. I've finally registered with a Dr last week but they are a 40 minute walk away (I have no car & bus goes only every half an hour). I've called the hospital twice now to register & both times they have told me they'll call me back & haven't.

I'm starting to get quite anxious now. What if anything happens before I am registered at the hospital? I can't go to my old one as it is two trains & a bus away. Do I call the new hospital & beg for them to see me? I'm feeling really exhausted and run down at the moment & it is stressing me out that I don't seem to have any medical provision at present.

Can your GP do a referral? My GP has a self referral phone number so I would speak to GP, good luck

I’m moving to a new area tomorrow and am also 30 weeks pregnant. I have been told to register with a GP ASAP (which I am doing Monday) and they will refer me to the midwife who will re-do my booking appointment. So you either need an urgent GP appointment to sort this or you need to keep calling the hospital. Don’t let them fob you off, explain you’re 30 weeks and haven’t seen anyone for x amount of weeks. You need to be seen.

Registered with the GP last week but then they told me it will take 10 days to register me & I have to wait for a letter from them.

They seem to think that I have loads of time but I'm nervous about missing any antenatal appointments & also what do I do if something happens like lack of movement or bumps (I'm rhesus neg)?

The GP should refer you to the local midwifery team to sort out your ongoing antenatal care.

If you have an urgent problem in the meantime then of course the hospital will see you - it’s no different to if you are on holiday in a different part of the UK and have a pregnancy-related problem. Just ring the maternity unit and make sure you have your notes to take with you.
