SavanahXx · 06/09/2018 19:05

Danby88 · 06/09/2018 19:10

Aww a little girl congratulations! I swear mines the opposite, he’s a proper lazy bones only moves at the promise of food!!! Are you planning to have her at rbh?x

SavanahXx · 06/09/2018 19:15

thank you! and I wish mine was like that haha, she only ever has a break when I'm out, its even worse when I'm in bed and she does these huge rolls that make me feel like I'm on the big dipper or something, I just don't have the stomach for that haha! 😁😁 and boys eh', only happy when it comes to food haha 😂😂 and I think so, although I keep seeing bad things about loads of hospitals, Bolton included, so its kinda' scared me off it a little. what about you?x

OP posts:
Danby88 · 06/09/2018 19:24

I haven’t been to visit the birthing suites yet but it will be either rbh or ingleside. I’ve heard really good things about both from people so I’m taking that as a good sign! I like the idea of ingleside because it’s a bit more like home but I also like the idea of having a doctor present if it’s needed which ingleside doesn’t have! RBH has a good rating so I’m not worried about having him there, ive had a good experience so far and just trying to ignore the horror stories Confused x

SavanahXx · 06/09/2018 19:30

the latest one, in the Bolton news scared me straight off haha, but I think being at the hospital will be best, still have no idea what to expect, not even thought of the labour yet to be honest haha, I asked my midwife if be able to see the maternity unit at Bolton and she said they don't do that anymore, was very disappointed -.- x

californiascreaming · 06/09/2018 19:34

Hello - i have a 2year old munchkin that was born at home under the care of the RBH midwives, so if anyone wants to know a bit more about that then happy to share... x

Danby88 · 06/09/2018 19:34

That’s not what my midwife told me?! She said just to ring and they’ll tell you when to come? My antenatal classes are there in October so no matter what will be having a look around! I’d ring and check! I did see that one in the Bolton news, and is scary but for every one of those there’s hundreds of good ones that just don’t get reported is what I try and think of x

Lillygolightly · 06/09/2018 19:38

Hi I’m also in Bolton, I’m a mum of 3, not currently expecting but my youngest is only just 9 months. I’ve had 2 labours/births at Bolton Hospital, 1 water birth in the birthing suite and 1 induction. If I can help with any info or questions please feel free to ask.

SavanahXx · 06/09/2018 19:41

hi @californiascreaming a home birth? how was it? x
@Danby88 midwife could of got it wrong then, there are some dippy midwives about, I changed mine after my 16 week appointment, had to change the children's centre I go as well just to get a new midwife, it was a right pain! the new one seems really nice, so that's a positive, and rbh are good, I ended up with sepsis after one of my miscarriages, because the hospital didn't give a follow up appointment after id already been in twice, but when I went in with the sepsis, they was amazing, and I was in EPU with that, so I suppose if the EPU are good, the ones in maternity must be even better! just cant wait to meet my lil lady 😁😁😊😊xx

Another mum here from Bolton, had my two at RBH - care before/during birth was wonderful, but the postnatal ward isn't nice, don't think they ever are though. Happy to answer any questions. Congrats to all of you expecting!

SavanahXx · 06/09/2018 19:43

@Lillygolightly hello! how was the water birth? I keep hearing about them and they sound good,

OP posts:
SavanahXx · 06/09/2018 19:48

hi @Jestern what was it like there?

OP posts:
Lillygolightly · 06/09/2018 20:03

@SavanahXx

Water birth was amazing out of my 3 births it was the best by far. I was really disappointed that I couldn’t have a water birth with my youngest.

For me I’d def recommend a water birth to anyone as mine was lovely. I found the water really calming and it definitely does help with the pain, it sort of takes the weight off a bit is the best way I can think to describe it. I could still have gas and air and I remember there being twinkly lights in the ceiling above (they might not have twinkled though...that could have been the gas and air) plus if you find the water not comfortable you can always hop out onto the bed. I stayed in the water though and had the best moment ever watching my DD being born and lifting her up out of the water and onto my chest, I was the first person to touch her and to hold her...makes me well up just thinking of it Smile

californiascreaming · 06/09/2018 20:15

Loved my home birth - 2 dedicated midwives (actually 3 at the birth because of a shift change), comforts of my own home, no other noisy babies/families/partners on a post natal ward, all mess dealt with by midwives - never knew there had been a birth!, and probably most important of all - I felt calm and happy because I was at home.
I did it because a friend had a great experience with her first baby, and that first hand knowledge/conversation made it sound appealing. In a weird way it healed some of the bad experiences I had with my first birth. I'd have never considered it if it hadn't been for my friend - I thought it was a bit too 'hippy/far out' for me but really glad I made the choice.
Have to say I loved my midwives - I had just turned 40 - so was in the 'higher risk' category just because of my age, but they all supported me in having a home birth (and telling the consultants to piss off as they kept pressurising me for an induction and hospital birth for no other reason than my age, when everything else in my pregnancy was ok)

SavanahXx · 06/09/2018 20:57

@Lillygolightly that sounds like such an amazing experience! I also herd its good when you have PGP too? my midwife has referred me to a physiotherapist for it, so I guess a water birth is worth looking in too, I don't want OH seeing more than he has too either lmao, he keeps saying its a once in a lifetime opportunity watching her being born, but I have a funny feeling he wouldn't cope with it haha. x

@californiascreaming I love the idea of a home birth! do you know if you can have a home birth with your first? the only thing that scares me, is if I have complications or anything. I'm low risk, but I've had low platelets and when I had sepsis with my MC, I bled way too much, was on the verge of having a blood transfusion, was a scary time, so I think that's what is making me super anxious about the birth. need to get my bum into gear thou, think its time to make a birth plan x

thank you both for sharing your experiences, it gives me a lot more to look into, also, I'm glad the midwives are good at their jobs too, that makes me feel a lil better 😊😊😊x

DH sat outside the pool but sat behind me and didn’t see any more than he would have seen from being sat beside me on a bed. My first and third births were bed bound births, DH said my water birth was also his favourite of the 3 (if he had to choose because they were all amazing of course Wink)

SavanahXx · 06/09/2018 21:33

@Lillygolightly I'm definitely going to look into that then! it sounds great! its nice to know that if I didn't like it, or wasn't comfortable, I could get into a bed too, I really need to make my mind up soon thou haha, everything is going so quick 😃😃
