Polyhydramnios

At my 36 week growth scan today (that I have because of age, I'm 44) the sonographer said I have polyhydramnios. The deepest pool was 14 cm.
I had noticed that my bump has recently expanded and it's harder to feel the baby's movements.
I saw the consultant afterwards who just said I should "get to hospital quickly if I go into labour ." That was it. I'm having an ELCS in 3 weeks.
But Until then I won't see anyone.
I feel a bit high & dry. Am I expecting too much? How was other people's polyhydramnios managed?
Thanks so much.....

There was a thread about polyhydramnios on here a few days ago that may be helpful. Unfortunately I don't think it can be managed as such. There is a risk of cord prolapse if your waters break, which can be serious.

Hi OP. I had polyhydraminous and was diagnosed at 34 weeks. A consultant took over my care and I had to go back for growth scans every week, although I was also told my baby was big so this was a factor too. I was told if your waters break at home to get to hospital quickly or if I felt contractions first go straight in as they would prefer me to be in hospital when they broke as there is a small risk of cord prolapse. I was booked in for an induction on my due date as my consultant was worried that due to the extra water my baby had more room to flip round and become breech. My waters broke on their own when I was in hospital and I had a pool birth and my daughter arrived 8 hours later. There was a LOT of water when they broke but everything was fine! :) and she was 8lb so not even that huge.

If you are worried, call your consultant but chances are everything will be ok. There was a thread last week and it had a lot of people’s experiences so might be worth scrolling back to find that x

Thank you @Aspenn17
I've tried looking back for a previous thread but can't find it!
I'm jealous you had weekly growth scans, when the plan for me is do nothing for three weeks!! I complained to my lovely midwife, who is going to start seeing me twice weekly , but I don't see how she can monitor the polyhydramnios from the outside....

I don't want anything to go wrong, cord prolapse or anything else. Plus im SOOO large & uncomfortable!!

Anyone else's experiences welcome...
