Whooping cough vaccine

I am so nervous to have my whooping cough vaccine! I'm 32 weeks and I've booked in to have it tomorrow but I'm so anxious it's going to make something go wrong!

During my first student nurse placement only a couple of years ago, a newborn baby died due to whooping cough. It was horrible.

Please seriously consider getting the vaccine. Especially as your baby will be a newborn in late autumn and winter.

What is your concern re: aluminium? What do you think it will do to you/ your baby?

Aluminium is an element that is in abundance - it is in food, water, infact formula, breastmilk!

Research has been conducted - peer reviewed research - concluding that aluminium in vaccines is safe. In fact, breastfed babies ingest twice as much aluminium through their milk than the sum of all their vaccines.

Whereas, whooping cough definitely kills babies. It's a no brainer.

@BigBlueBubble There has been a 90% reduction in whooping cough infant deaths in the UK since the pregnancy vaccine was introduced.

It may not be common where you are but you don't know where the op is or what her risk factors are so it is dangerous to suggest the vaccine isn't worth getting.

BlaaBlaaBlaa · 30/08/2018 11:42

@bigbluebubble you aren't convinced vaccinations during pregnancy are safe? Is that just your opinion or do you have actual medical research to back that up? Because if you don't, your post is dangerous and should be removed.

BigBlueBubble · 30/08/2018 11:43

I didn’t say OP shouldn’t get vaccinated. I just described my own experience and why I personally decided not to have the vaccine.

BlaaBlaaBlaa · 30/08/2018 11:47

Throw away comments like yours are dangerous...you have no medical research to back them up as it's just your opinion.

@upthewolves my concern has nothing to do with aluminium or what it'll do to my baby. I don't know if you saw but before you commented I'd said I'd already had it.

My concern was actually the side effects it would have to me (which I am now suffering from) after having a very tough pregnancy and previously loosing a child. It was a general post so I could talk to people whilst being very bored and lonely on maternity leave that's all

hersandhis · 30/08/2018 11:51

I didn't get the vaccine simply because I forgot and by the time I remembered it was too late to have it. Luckily my baby is fine but if he had of got whooping cough I'd never have forgiven myself for forgetting to have the vaccine!

User24689 · 30/08/2018 12:16

@oreolovegood my apologies, it was a subsequent poster that mentioned being afraid of aluminium. I got a bit angry/ emotional because I actually have a good friend who lost their young baby to WC, before this vaccine was introduced. Got fired up and didn't read properly. Well done for getting the vaccine.Flowers

I had it at 24 weeks. Just fed my 5 week old daughter!
