My 12wk & 21wk scan my dh attended with me. My little one who is 3 keeps saying he wants to see baby. I've got a 28wk scan booked for next week as I'm high risk I will also be having a 32 & 36wk was thinking to take him to that one. Has anyone else taken there kids?

Or I'm thinking to pay for a private 3D/4d scan and take him there

Any suggestions. Tia x

Why not take him? It would be good for him to know what's going on, and to be involved. I'm sure mum's do take their toddlers.

My scan letter specifically says not to bring kids. I’d phone and check as it would be pretty rubbish to get there and find he isn’t allowed in.

If I was high risk I'm not sure I'd take a child to an NHS scan.
IME private scan places are more geared up to having kids present -- our local one has toys etc in the waiting room.

Most scans do not allow children to be present, obviously in case something is found, which can happen at later scans despite normal previous scans. (I’m not saying there would be in your case!) . I think a private scan would be your best option.

Book a private scan. Taking him to your nhs scan is inappropriate.

I see the NHS scans as medical scans so wouldn’t take a child (our hospital doesn’t allow it anyway). I’d book a private scan and take him there.

NHS scans are not for entertainment, they’re to see if there are any problems with the baby.

Can you imagine how upsetting it would be for your child if something is wrong and he is there to watch it unfold?

Please don’t take a small child into a medical procedure if you have any other option.

If you want to pay for a private one afterwards, once you know that all is ok, then you could take him in, but he probably wouldn’t really appreciate it, he’d get more out of a photo where you can point out hands and feet etc.

From what I recall the later scans are difficult to read anyway as the baby is too big to be seen in one go.
