Plus size, no weight gain, am I going to be skinny post birth?

This is one for experienced plus size mums. To be clear I have started very plus sized, BMI 44.

As I have been on the gestational diabetes diet I have lost a few pounds. Not much. My bump is very firm.

Does this mean I'll be substantially smaller when I give birth? I should say my pre pregnancy clothes still fit despite my belly bump getting bigger and bigger.

I'm 23 weeks.

Everything else (face, arms, legs, bum) will be the same as now unless you gain/lose drastically but you’ll obviously have a smaller tummy once the baby’s out. The baby won’t weight very much at all at this stage so it’s unlikely you’ll look much different to pre pregnancy.

When I got pregnant with DD1 I was 16 stone. I knew I had to be sensible as I was at high risk for GD plus high blood pressure and a complicated delivery. I didn’t gain any weight at all and even lost some - my consultant was delighted. I was 13 stone the day after I gave birth. The weight dropped off me while I was breastfeeding and I was under 10 stone on her first birthday. My weight has fluctuated a bit since but i’ve never been anywhere near as big as 16 stone again. So yes, it is possible.

I just eat a bit less now and definitely less carbs! I exercise a bit more too so I have definitely changed my lifestyle slightly to stay at my new size. If I had the willpower to continue my GD diet I’d be even lighter - but I don’t!

TeaAndNoSympathy wow! That's amazing! 16 st down to 10! Sounds like a great way to start life as an active mum!

I will find maintaining proper GD difficult post birth Piffpaffpoff!

Forgot the link OP.
These always worked for me - single packs expensive but maybe bulk buy/subscribe or take the ingredient list (3rd pic) to a tea shop (teabags were easier for me but they are cheaper in Germany, this is a German brand).

I have been 16 stone as a starting point in all 3 of my pregnancies. In the first tw I put on 2 stone during each pregnancy and as soon as I gave birth I was 16 stone. I also put on weight due to breastfeeding and by 6 months postpartum I was down to 15 stone.

Currently 34 weeks into my third pregnancy and so far have gained 1 stone. I've noticed that my arms and face are a lot slimmer than before and although I have a big bump I do look a bit smaller. I'm eating sensibly and am more active in this pregnancy due to having other children. I'm hoping that I won't put on much more but only time will tell. I know however that I need to be careful not to eat too much, or too many of the wrong things when breastfeeding!
