I've been advised to pack extra baby grows and vests 🙈 I'm thinking about 6 of each. Scratch mits, booties, hats, nappies xx

usernotfound0000 · 24/08/2018 12:52

I would pack more than 5 nappies. I ended up with a 2 day stay and needed considerably more, I know they can be brought in by your partner or visitors but I liked having enough. Maybe a dummy? Blanket, muslins, hat.

Oh and a tip I was told before DC1 - put babies first outfit, so vest, babygrow, hat, nappy etc all in a sandwich bag so that it can be easily found once they need it, especially if your partner hasn't been involved in the packing and/or doesn't know what they are looking for (like mine!).

Flip flops for when you're using the shower, a water spray and fan as hospitals are hot hot hot!!

I second more outfits for baby, mines was born at almost 6pm that night alone went through all 7 outfits I packed, husband brought more up in the morning then had to have visitors go buy some on way to visit. You could always pack a back up bag and leave it in your car and send partner out restock for you.

Take some. Mittens and socks for doing skin to skin time
2 x blankets
A towel
A cardigan for going home in

Reusable nappies? You still need more than five. They get through 10-12 a day at first and you can’t predict how long you will be in hospital. I’ve put two 24 packs in just in case. Baby wipes! A cardigan/jacket and a blanket.

NapQueen · 24/08/2018 20:10

More nappies. Mine pooped hourly for the 48 hours we were in there.
Smaller muslins for milk spills.
Larger muslin for swaddling.
A dummy - even if you dont plan on using one. Just incase baby goes against your plans and screams the building down.

Chocolatecoffeeaddict · 24/08/2018 20:15

More clothes than what you think, nappies, wipes ( people tell you to use cotton wool for their bum but if you're on a ward it can be a faff and sensitive wipes are fine).
An outfit and hat for leaving, bibs and a blanket/ shawl for leaving.
If you want to use a dummy, it's good to be introduced after birth so they get used to it.

Chocolatecoffeeaddict · 24/08/2018 20:16

Also, it's best to use the starter packs of milk with the disposable bottles as there may not be facilities to make up formula.

Merename · 24/08/2018 23:37

Warm things for leaving hospital in case it's chilly? Hat/ blanket/ cardi etc? I wouldn't say you need bibs for a newborn, I'd bring muslins instead.
