Maternity Pay

I am having a meeting with my MD this afternoon about my maternity pay, can you just tell me, is it right that I get 6 weeks at 90% of my pay and then another 33 weeks as stat pay of £112 a week? Also do I still pay tax on this? What about my holiday allowance, do I just get it up until I leave or am I entitled to the full years allowance?

HI MOTHER2B HOPE U FIND THIS LITTLE LOT HELPFUL Casual workers, part-timers and temps are entitled to paid leave pro rata. Where full-timers working a five-day week would be entitled to 20 days? holiday a year, a part-timer doing two days a week would be entitled to eight days? leave. If you give your full-time workers more than four weeks paid annual leave, then your part-timers are entitled to holiday leave on a pro-rata basis.

The right to paid annual leave continues to accrue, even during periods of absence from work (for example, for illness or maternity leave). However, an employee on sick leave is only entitled to paid annual leave for the first year of absence.

Can I add a brief question to this as well?

As part of our holiday allowance we get 3 days holiday that has to be taken over the Christmas period. I'll be on mat leave by then (or I hope so anyway - I'm due on the 30th Dec!) - will I lose those days, or will I be able to take them earlier?

Thank you Lisa, the ins and outs of maternity rights are beggining to really p**s me of lol. My boss is obviously trying to take advantage knowing that i dont know much about my rights this bieng my first baby.

Kerryleannne, back pain is a real pain! pardon the pun I have SPD so spend most of my day on crutches or resting. I would suggest warm bath, pillow between legs at night, massage and rest.
My boss is a real pain when it comes to things too but we have an internal website and access to a good HR team, so I just ask them. How far gone are you?

lisa123 - i have posted for you on the due in oct thread. you are in herts aren't you? so am i and i am a chiropractor. not sure if you have already tried this, but i do see quite a few pg women with SPD and get some very good results. last patient i saw with it was on crutches but after a couple of treatments she didnt need them anymore. obviously it doesnt work for everyone, but it might be worth a try for you!

greedygreedyguzzler · 29/06/2007 08:54

also, does anyone know anything about maternity allowance and keeping in touch days? if you do could you post on my MA thread please!!!! i have asked a few questions!

Judy1234 · 29/06/2007 08:58

That's good - on the intial one the basics that it's 90% of pay for the first 6 weeks and then £112 a week (for this tax year) is correct and yes it's taxed - all your income to 5th April 2008 is added together and if you're over the tax threshold you pay tax (same NI) so most people on maternity leave but working part of the year would be.

Another daft question from me!

When you get paid SMP, does it automatically go into your bank, or what do you have to do/claim to make sure you get it?

lisad123 · 29/06/2007 12:11

If you get SMp its paid inot your bank and is arranged via your normal payroll people
