So the thing is i work for a kitchen and joinery firm and we have this huge sale in october where we arent allowed to take holidays and sometimes doctors appointment for the whole 4 weeks.

HOWEVER..... i now have a midwife app booked for the 4th october, they cant make me change it can they? Its at 3:15 so near the end of the work day.
Just wanted to know if anyone had a similar experience. Thanks xx

No they can’t. That would be illegal. Look up maternity right in the GOV website.

BlueBug45 · 23/08/2018 18:26

No as maternity appointments are essential.

Also any medical appointments that are essential they can't make you change. So they can have that rule, but if the appointment is for an emergency, disability as defined under the law, or maternity they can't make you change them. (Worth letting your colleagues know this.)

No they can't! Make sure you refer them to the gov.uk website if they try to convince you otherwise. Also, you don't need to take annual leave and they must pay you.

Also pregnancy related appointments. So I have needed physio for pgp in all 3 of my pregnancies and the appointments have all been paid and time off given.

I have however always tried to minimise the impact to work by scheduling at the most convenient time, but you can only take what is available.
