Light pink spotting early pregnancy

Hi,

Just after some reassurance, I had a miscarriage earlier this year and have recently found out I am about 4+5 weeks pregnant. I had some light pink/ brown even a tiny bit of red bleeding last week around the time my period was due which I put down to implantation bleed. Last night after going to the toilet there was the tiniest bit of pink blood on the tissue and nothing else since but this is how the last miscarriage started :( the only thing that's reassuring me is that last time I was at the EPU the doctor found cervical erosion and put it down to that? Obviously she was wrong but I'm hoping that's all it is this time?

X

I've just noticed there are no notes on this post. How are things since you posted this OP? x

@BexusSugarush I only posted it this morning so just a waiting game atm!

Ah sorry, I misread the date! Okay well I'm happy to kick things off here.

Any experiences people will give you here can only serve to reassure you, but unfortunately for you it will be a waiting game to see.

As for me, I bled a little here and there in early pregnancy, but everytime I contacted a midwife (and even 111 at one point due to dizziness and sickness accompanied by bleeding) they were only worried if I had bled enough to soak a pad within an hour.

There are many reasons you could be bleeding, including changes to your cervix, sex etc. If it's just light spotting then it's likely nothing to worry about. If it's heavier bleeding that persists, that's the worry.

I know it's easy to say 'don't worry', especially when you're so early into the pregnancy and have a while to go before a scan confirmation, my best advice is unless it gets heavy enough to soak a pad in an hour, it might be safer for your mental health to just ignore it, as there's nothing a midwife or doctor could do in any case.

Sorry that's not more reassuring OP x

I had some red bleeding and brown spotting at 4+3, and the pinkish tinge on wiping too. I was advised to go to A&E as the EPU was closed, mostly to rule out an ectopic. I then had to go for 2 blood tests 48 hours apart to confirm my hcg levels had risen.

9 weeks today as far as I know, though wasn’t offered an early scan and have therefore found this pregnancy far more stressful than my first. My dating scan isn’t until closer to 13 weeks too, which feels really far away.

Much sympathy, it’s really horrible. Could you call your EPU and at least have a chat?

@BexusSugarush thank you so much for the reassurance. I said to myself when I found out I wasn't going to worry but as pink spotting was how my last mc started it's very hard not too 🙁 I know without heavy bleeding and cramping everything could be fine just need to keep telling myself that.

@lambdroid did you have the bloods taken at the doctors or EPU? I'm thinking about going to the doctors and asking for bloods to be taken 48 hours apart just for peace of mind but not sure if that has to be done at EPU and not sure if I want to go back there x

If it's really driving you to unhappiness not knowing, you can pay for private scans from about 6 weeks.

Ive had bleeding and spotting on and off throughout this pregnancy and am 10 weeks now. Had early scan at 6 and 7 weeks which were fine and got another tomorrow as it’s stared again the last few days. It’s the not knowing that I find worse, and just waiting for the miscarriage to start.

My first lot was at A&E as EPU was closed, second lot at phlebotomy department at the hospital but I think under the care of the hospital Gynae team. I didn’t actually get referred to the EPU though I did speak to them so they were aware of me.

From what I’ve read on here, some GPs do offer blood tests and others don’t, so hard to say. I was definitely told just to call the EPU with any concerns through.

Thanks everyone. I will see how I get on and maybe call the doctors and ask for bloods or something. Have a busy week ahead so hopefully will keep me occupied xx
