I'm overdue and 2 failed sweeps in (3rd tomorrow) I have resigned myself to the fact it's unlikely to work and I'll be being induced on Thursday but I don't really want to be, it's sounds so much more traumatic than going into labour naturally, I know it can't be helped but if anybody has been induced and gone on to have a "normal" labour I would be so grateful to hear from you. I'm terrified!!

I was induced at 38 weeks. Drip put up at 4, waters broke. Paracetamol, diamorphine and gas and air. LG born 11pm. Naturally and only scratches.
Currently 26 weeks pregnant so wasn't to traumatic
Best of luck Thanks

I was induced with DS. Pessary first then drip. 6 hours of active labour, had gas and air and diamorphine. I was being monitored constantly but still used the birthing ball up until i started pushing... It was intense but not as bad as I thought it was going to be.
Good luck!

I've had two. 19 months ago and 7 weeks ago. You'll be fine! They'll try a propess, which feels just like getting a sweep. That might be enough to put you into labour. If you're dilated enough- about 3cm, they'll take you to labour suite to break your waters. Doesn't hurt and for my first baby at 39 weeks, that was all I needed. You'll get about an hour to see if contractions start and if not, you're hooked up to the Synto drip. Big cannula in your hand and two tubes. The cannula hurts a bit to put in, because it's a big one. Honestly, that's the worst bit. You can ask for the Synto to be removed once your labour is underway. I had Synto for my last one and it was absolutely fine. Otherwise, my second went exactly the same way as my first. Most labour suites have remote monitoring now, so you can still get up/move about. I was done and dusted in six hours for both babies. Second at 37+5. Amazing labours both times, careful and continuous care from a midwife all the way through with gas and air and diamorphine both times.

Would do it again in a heartbeat if it didn't result in a baby to look after at the end!

You will be absolutely fine. Best of luck and look forward to having your baby to hold...
