Lashes in Pregnancy

Hi all,

Bit of a beauty related question - I am booked into have LVL lashes done tomorrow, had them lots before but it suddenly occurred to me that maybe it's not allowed in pregnancy.

I spoke to the lady that does them for me and she said to do a patch test etc which I have done and didn't seem to worry as long as the patch test was ok?! I am currently around 13 weeks.

The advice online is soooo varied so I wanted to see if anyone on here has had any similar experiences?

Thanks all Smile

It's fine. Your skin is more sensitive in pregnancy so a patch test is a good idea for any treatment, even if you regularly have it, but so long as that's all good then get your lashes!

Ahhhh okay thank you! Sounds silly but I had a little google and everyone was saying not too so just thought I would check Smile

Thanks!

I asked my regular lady and she said she wouldnt do it incase i reacted to the chemicals. I asked someone else and she said she wouldnt do it as it might not work as the body reacts differently in pregnancy, so it could be pointless. I was gutted.

It's like dying your hair. Safe to do if you've gone a patch test but due to hormones might not take and you end up with streaky hair! Personally if I'd not had a reaction to the patch test I'd do it, like I have with hair and brow dye.

Thanks ladies - I think I may just play it safe and not do it just in case, if anything happened I would never forgive myself!! X

I get them done every 6 weeks during pregnancy and don't worry about it at all! The amount of chemicals used and total exposure time are so tiny that I can hardly imagine it being absorbed into your body and actually doing any damage. The hardest part for me is having to lie on your back for an hour since my belly is getting heavier each time :P!

It's one of the few things that really cheers me up during pregnancy since it makes you feel noticeably prettier afterwards. I try to keep my make-up routine to a minimum (less daily exposure from chemicals in foundation, sprays, primers, powders etc), and the lashes make a huge difference to your appearance & self esteem.
