Mind boggling baby clothes! Or is it just me?!

I’m due on 21st September and thought I should go through the (very) few bits of baby clothing we have to work out what else we need. Is it just me or does anyone else find baby clothes mind boggling?! Different shops use different size descriptors and the same size from different shops vary wildly. Is 0-1 month the same as ‘50’ the same as newborn?! Jo Maman Bébé newborn looks huge compared to H&M! And then there’s the garment names - sleep suit, body suit, baby grow. What’s the actual difference?! Add in the fact that September can either be baking hot or quite autumnal and I’m at a loss Confused
So far in newborn size I have: 2 pairs leggings, 3 short sleeve no legs ‘body suits’, 1 no legs long arm baby grow(?), 5 legs and arms ‘body suit’ (but 4 of these look bigger). Then a few bigger looking bits in 0-2 month sizing. I doubt I’m having a big baby - I’m quite petite and both my partner and I were average size 7-7 1/2 pounders. I’m around 60% on the fundal height chart and I’m having a c section at 39+2 anyway.
Can anyone please give me a clear suggestion of what I need and how much? Or a guide to different terms - does a baby grow have legs or no legs?!

Oh I had a September baby! I would say -

6 ish short sleeved bodysuit (the vest type things that go under babygrow)

10ish long sleeved bodysuits

A few pair of tiny tiny socks

A couple of pairs of leggings (can just put with bodysuit if hotter!)

12 sleepsuits (ones from mothercare and next are great as they have turn over scratchmitts built into the hands)

A couple of cardigans

An all in one coat

A few blankets

A couple of thin cotton hats and a proper winter hat.

Don't bother with proper clothes until about 3-6 months, baby shoes are just not needed until 9ish months really! Scratchmitts are rubbish as they just fall off (hence sleepsuits with built in ones!)

Just get 14 white baby gros, 14 vests and some other bits and bobs just because they’re nice. Trust me, they grow out of it so bloody fast. My son was 8lb and wore first size for about a week, then up to a month for 4ish weeks. Then 0-3 until he was 4 months (we squeezed). 3-6 was also short lived.

And just remember that snowsuits/coats/jackets can't be worn in car seats. So you can take a car seat indoors, strap baby in, layer blankets over then take the baby out to the car.

Look at the weight on the labels not the age because different shops judge it differently. For example M&S newborn size is a lot smaller than Boots Mini Club Newborn size. They usually have the weight range written in tiny writing on the label somewhere.
